Chelsea have an array of talent and in my humble opinion he will not be able to hold down a regular place in their team in the near future.

i don't think they do have an array of talent:
Loftus- Cheek, Barkley and Ziycheck i see leaving in the summer
Kante 31 and Jorginho 30 coming into their last year of contract
And Kovacic and Mount, yes
Havertz i see as a forward with Lukaku, and probably Werner leaving, But i think Gallagher is better than anybody else with maybe the exception of Mount.

If you remember Mo Salah and Kevin De Bruyne couldn’t get game time at Chelsea and hold down a spot, so what does that say about Chelsea?

I half agree with you Willo in that I don't see Gallagher getting regular game time (regular bench time perhaps); and this even more so if he fails to recapture his first half season form soon. Current talent includes players nearing the end of their Chelsea playing careers, but I see Chelsea simply buying in what they deem to be ready-made players.

Chelsea today they are 13 points off the top of the table leader, if we consider that the back end of the season continues in similar fashion Chelsea could end up 20 + points below the team that wins the league -

I would imagine that over the summer they will look for international superstars who are going to almost guarantee to be able to win them more points in the coming year, more than hoping that home grown returning loan talent will see them better placed & in turn wasting the summer transfer window opportunity.

Just my tuppence worth -

Yes, I think this is likely. What I don't quite get is how they have duffers like Batishuyi on their books instead of cutting free?

Probably because they pay average players too much and get lumbered with them and it’s only idiots like us who think they are good players purely because they play for Chelsea who continue to pay such money. To be fair Batshuayi was just about ok first time around but second time he was awful and it was a poor decision.

Chelsea cut De Bryune & Salah free - they probably get reminded of that on a regular basis -

Players are people too - some are working in an environment where they can progress & thrive & some are unfortunately stuck in the basement (3rd or 4th choice for a position) but are reluctant to leave because the money outside Chelsea is considerably lower than the package they signed up for & some can still have international careers because Chelsea reserves is still better than other less fashionable clubs.

The only time (since oil money arrived) that I can remember Chelsea having an appetite for pushing youngsters into the first team was during the transfer embargo, then as soon as that was over they spent big & replaced the manager with someone who could handle the international superstars.

I am sure the people that follow Chelsea will say that I am over simplifying the situation & can point to several success stories outside of the picture that I have painted but for me this is a general outline of what I expect from them.

As long as they have money & are allowed to buy players rather than develop them, they will do so.

Does that mean you half disagree with Willo as well

Only time will tell, but for my 2ps worth I highly doubt he will be a regular starter.

We've seen first hand the dramatic drop in form, that happens at Chelsea, you are out of the team.

Plus, with Kante and Jorginho getting on, they will just buy a couple more CM's. They cant afford to gamble that Gallagher will work out. That's not what they do...buy more then they need and the best play.

Could still be that we either buy him or rent him for another year. Wishful thinking would be we can buy him but we got to take Lukaku on a free and honour his contract 😱
