Clyne deserves a lot more credit than he’s given. He played well last night again and has never let us down. For a guy who was let go by Liverpool as a crock and given the opportunity to train with us he’s more than repaid that playing 55 times over the last two and a half years. He’s not the player he was years ago of course but he’s a good professional who always puts in a decent shift.

I agree, and he was unjustly penalised for a perfectly well timed tackle.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Well played Palace - best I have seen us play in a while - if only we could hit the net!
Good performances all around.
Schlupp had a good one for a change but Olise was my m.o.m.
Defence was excellent and the midfield harried and pressed.
I have no complaints at all and we showed better spirit.
Great noise from the crowd - it was right up there - bloody cold though!
Happier days to come if we continue in the same vein.

Good post nice to hear a positive comment , not sure how people can be unhappy with that performance tbh, it was a very good point, I thought Lakonga was MOM was very impressed.

Schlupp is picked was very good. Don’t know what some posters slate him so much. He can play in various positions and is a strong player who successive managers have picked.
Olise also very influential.
No Wilf? We should have sold him and spent the money on Ollie Watkins.

I’ve been genuinely quite shocked by Clyne’s return.

I thought it was a move that was purely sentimental and a punt at best. Plenty of comments about us needing wingbacks add to that too.

I think it’s gone massively under the radar just how well he’s played for a while now and whilst he will need replacing as he ages further I’ve been very happy and again surprised by his performances.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Liverpool were absolute crap and didn’t turn up at all but we lacked the quality to hurt them. I think the majority of other Premier League teams beat them last night.

Olise has really stepped up in recent weeks and was our best player with Lokonga who can drop his shoulder and get us playing forward.

Our lack of firepower is really concerning.

I tend to agree, but I still do think we played pretty well and probably deserved the win.

Respect the point, still moving in the right direction

I think many of us have reached the conclusion that Mateta is not the long term solution for us.
However, I still think he could still have a role to play this season.
He had two good opportunities yesterday, had two close range shots blocked by Webster v Brighton that could well have led to goals and was only denied by a womderful save by Pope v Newcastle.
Perhaps I'm clutching at straws, but he's the most likely of our players to get shots away in the penalty area.
You have to shoot to score and I think he could still chip in with a few if we create enough chances in the penalty area.
His limitations are there for all to see and in a way I'm damning him with a faint praise.
But it could be argued he's the best we have with the current options available.

I can't find myself disappointed at taking two points off Liverpool in a season - any season - albeit our virtually non-existent attacking force is a continual worry.

What will irk me until our survival is confirmed are the 3 points we donated to Nottingham Forest through sheer ineptitude and the 4 points we've thrown away against Brentford through incompetence. Add 5, or even 7 points to our current total and we'd be sitting much prettier.

But "if only" is the perennial cry of the Palace fan, I'm afraid.

I think our general reluctance to shoot affects Mateta who needs the ball bobbling around in the area. He seems a more reactive player rather than one looking for space. Hopefully when he does get one his confidence will grow.

The Everton game was a shocker too.
