Liverpool were absolute crap and didn’t turn up at all but we lacked the quality to hurt them. I think the majority of other Premier League teams beat them last night.

Olise has really stepped up in recent weeks and was our best player with Lokonga who can drop his shoulder and get us playing forward.

Our lack of firepower is really concerning.

Liverpool werent allowed to play their normal game by the tactics Palace employed, Vieira knows they have better players than us, so set the team up not to lose.
Some posters like to make out Liverpool are crap, which most of us know they arent and if their front three are given space they win.
Give Palace and Vieira any credit is not an option for some posters

True about Liverpool but I'm glad Nunez didn't play - he probably thinks he owes us one after the red card up there.

Spot on mate
The levels of toxicity in this fan base at the moment is ridiculous on this site and on twitter even more ,thousands of palace fans singing and applauding our performance at the end last night , I can only assume the few creating this horrendous atmosphere are sat at home at there computer and not at the game , and don’t start with “it’s opinions and we entitled to it” well this is my opinion , if people genuinely think viera should be “sacked” or parish needs to go , or whatever I have read on here and twitter I think your clowns.

Rant over

Also the amount of Liverpool fans in palace end was shocking btw , I didn’t see them myself as was in holmesdale but I noticed going in that there was a few red shirts but I had a beer and didn’t take too much notice but on twitter someone put up a photo and there was loads in the Arthur all scarfed up hats on and shirts , I know it happens but that was shocking , why don’t stewards do anything ? Why didn’t us supporters do anything ? Unbelievable
Anyway
Happy Sunday

I've not been one of Vieira's detractors and agree he's done well to make us tighter at the back. However, I prefer to call a turd a turd and Liverpool were exactly that yesterday by their own notably poor standards this season.

We created (or forced mistakes which lead to) four good opportunities yet we failed to register a shot on target (again).

I think any team with a cutting edge beats them comfortably last night.

At the start of the season I looked at the squad and wondered where the goals were going to come from. The short term answer was the usual....Zaha. However, I don't think it's just a goalscoring issue - there's insufficient attacking guile and quality across the team.

I agree, and he was unjustly penalised for a perfectly well timed tackle.

And booked for it..!!

Refereeing standards in the Prem do not reflect the standard of the league and the players playing it..!!

I was fearing a loss to the Welsh in the rugby today and an easy win for Liverpool but with such a low bar I can sleep quite contentedly!! When I eventually do of course

Don’t think either Mateta or Edouard are good enough - think Edouard worth persevering with as IMO there is a player in there somewhere - just looks totally devoid of confidence at the moment.

That’s why as I’ve said before once Zaha is fit I’d play a “fluid” front 3 of Zaha, Eze and Olise - on the basis that ATM they are our most likely source of goals..

Plus be exciting to watch..!!

Equally maybe Liverpool fans are glad Zaha didn't play

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

I very much agree!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I've certainly questioned some of PV's lineups, mainly in the use of Schlupp, Ayew and Mateta. I get that they are all put in a shift and a useful squad members for different types of games. Playing all 3 of them in a game I feel pretty much reduces our attacking threat to just hoping for miracles. This will obviously be a source of debate until we start scoring/winning.

However what PV gets big praise from me for is that through this very tough run of games (still more to come) he's managed to keep the squad spirit in tact, and we're starting to play with more energy and we look fairly solid. Keeping that togetherness in the squad is no easy task in a lengthy winless streak. Hopefully we can come out of the next 4 games equally unscathed whilst picking up a few more useful points.

How we fair in our final 10 games of the season will then be a good indicator of how far through this squad transition we are from Roy's Old Boys.

Yes, that's what I thought yesterday. The team seems to be determined and not impressed/demoralised by the mediocre series and points tally. Perhaps his approach of emphasising the positive sides is not entirely wrong after all.

Some great points and clearly PV is placing staying in the game and having options from the bench above putting his "best" starting eleven out.
