There is simply no time in the PL, for strikers to mess about changing feet and taking extra touches, Edouard is annoying. Head over the ball, strike it low first time or you will get robbed or blocked. It is basic really yet so many strikers are off balance and sky good opportunities or waste them.

There is simply no time in the PL, for strikers to mess about changing feet and taking extra touches, Edouard is annoying.

Head over the ball, strike it low first time or you will get robbed or blocked.

It is basic really yet so many strikers are off balance and sky good opportunities or waste them.

Edouard dos indeed like a couple of touches. Whilst JPM is still pony, he is pretty good at shooting first time. Both his chances at the weekend were. In that respect I do feel a bit for JPM, he's shown that he can get on the end of stuff, but we jsut don't cross enough. One of the worst statistically.

Edouard dos indeed like a couple of touches.

Whilst JPM is still pony, he is pretty good at shooting first time. Both his chances at the weekend were.

In that respect I do feel a bit for JPM, he's shown that he can get on the end of stuff, but we jsut don't cross enough. One of the worst statistically.

You go to any park, any junior club, and academies and you will see people that are very good at football but its their ability to make the right decisions that will set them apart and will interest scouts.

It does go beyond this. Undoubtedly having ability is important but at youth football scouts don't just look for ability because countless players have it and those that appear to have loads of it at a young age can be caught up as a player develops physically. What they're (scouts) really looking for are those that can make right decisions more than wrong ones, because added to their ability these are the players that can be developed more than a player with all the ability but keeps making bad decisions. You go to any park, any junior club, and academies and you will see people that are very good at football but its their ability to make the right decisions that will set them apart and will interest scouts.

I fear “instinct” is being coached out of the game and “decision making” has become binary. Pass back or sideways. It has been said the Roy’s players were each given 2 nearby players they could pass to and the only decision was which one. Watching Man City is not dissimilar at times. Haaland making constant runs in the box while the midfield and wide players pass the ball back and forth to each other. It is said Grealish “has had to learn” to curb his natural instincts and simply hug the touch line and pass the ball backwards most of the time! Football is no longer about individuals. Apparently it’s about something called “the collective”. Star Trek fans will recognise that term as applying to the Borg- a collective of cybernetic drones who “move in a purposeful, robotic style ignoring most of their environment”. I have noticed he is good at getting the shot away and it is usually on target. I also thought against Liverpool he did look to get in front of their defenders and use his physicality more than he has done in the past. I think the Everton interest suggests there is a player in there - not a silky smooth rolls royce but more of a John Fashanu style aggressive finisher - just would like him to compete more outside of the area to help the team as he did against Liverpool.

I concur with the thoughts on JPM. I have noticed he is good at getting the shot away and it is usually on target. I also thought against Liverpool he did look to get in front of their defenders and use his physicality more than he has done in the past. I think the Everton interest suggests there is a player in there - not a silky smooth rolls royce but more of a John Fashanu style aggressive finisher - just would like him to compete more outside of the area to help the team as he did against Liverpool.
