AZ fans vs WHU.

Some unsavoury scenes at the AZ vs WHU European game last night where my initial impression was 'Of course never 'good' but nothing to fuss over too much' as the commentary explained what was going on. As it continued however, and I had noted and wrongly attributed the reasoning behind WHU players rushing over, it was actually the home crowd attacking the small family and friends enclosure WHU had. At the risk of sounding 'racist' given today's environment, albeit just about everything qualifies as such, as a grown man and football fan everything about that is not only wrong and bizarre but something I found quite believable with the Dutch. I've encountered a few in my life, and mainly talking about blokes here whilst travelling (including with England), and there always seems to be something quite off there. I couldn't for one second, no matter how inebriated and experiencing football related rage etc I might be, imagine attacking a family enclosure (or any other group generally speaking). What's the mentality there? Morally and ethically you must know that's a blacklisted activity but I can't think of many things to make you feel and look 'less of a man'. Isn't football violence usually associated with ego and testosterone overdrive? Not often I'd throw my full support behind WHU fans but what a cowardly, weaselly and backward thing to happen... and it would be the Dutch. Bunch of c-units. Apparently there were kids in there too.

Doesn't sound great does it. I wouldn't advise AZ to go away to West Ham anytime soon. Last time I was at Selhurst I was sitting next to an AZ fan who was telling me the two clubs were relatively similar. In the Arthur.

Whilst it was totally deplorable attacking the 'Family Section' what a lot of reports fail to mention, was that WHU fans attacked the AZ family section at the London Stadium last week. Very few reports were made, but, the bbc did carry a piece on it. Scroll down a bit & it even mentions it in this report.

I understand your sentiments and she does get on my nerves quite a bit (as they do) but my Mrs is Dutch. However, honestly no offence taken.

Two guys held off 60 ultra's on the steps for about 5 minutes whilst the stewards just looked on!! It was only when the players intervened that the ultras pulled back. The only steward doing anything was a woman!!! But lets face it, if I were facing Antonio I'd leg it as well!!! One west ham fan got dragged down into the ultra's and took a kicking just before they legged it. Earlier on there was a street battle involving 60 whu and 60 AZ. AZ won and ran them. One west ham fan got caught and took a beating. The main defender was a guy called Knollsy who is a whu face from the 80's so he must be 55-60!!! Good show holding off 60 young ultra's for 5 minutes!!! Respect.

Brum attacked the family end at Selhurst a few years back. Not limited to the Dutch !

I wouldn’t read too much into my stereotyping of anyone ever let alone here AS, very much a lighthearted joke and more to match my perceived diagnosis of absurdity in attacking a friends and family section and tinged with Austin Powers inspired mockery. Also my wife is from Cornwall therefore I e had years and decades more of mocking that fact as she has from my Lewisham based and Irish roots! Doesn’t matter who does it I see it as real scum of the earth and bottom of the barrel in terms of masculinity. Not that football hooliganism is a barometer for such things but either way really does enrage me that any bloke would find it remotely acceptable. Doesn’t matter who the ‘victims’ are either it’s not fair game. If groups of rival fans want to kick each others heads in I don’t condone it however as far as they’re all consenting and on the same page I couldn’t care less. Attacking families just watching a sporting spectacle is something entirely different however, there’s a stark chasm there.

I don't have much sympathy for them, aside from genuinely innocent fans caught up in it. It did, however, amuse me to see a lot of snotty ultras getting a pasting from a couple of old school yobbos. They didn't fancy it at all. Don't mess with the old fellas.
