Promoted clubs are allowed to operate at a big loss for the first two seasons after going up to kinda allow them to compete. After that they’ve got to cut their cloth accordingly. That’s why we’ve seen clubs like Villa and Nottm Forrest massively overspend once they’ve gone up. Brentford have also overspent without really selling anyone and with a small ground but have been named as one of the best run clubs in the league ( AFC Wimbledon were named the best).

Two on that list could have replaced Wilf for cheap enough and nowhere near the wages. A couple of those are bargains. Still, I don't see them banging on the door of the big six but more unlikely for relegation now. Makes it harder for us, as is becoming more common.

They invested with some GUMPtion and certainly managed to ROCK THE BOAT.

Bournemouth still have the smallest stadium in the PL after the refurb at Kenilworth Road now packs in a few hundred more than the Vitality's 11,307.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |
