Roy has just confirmed Franca is fit. He was coy on whether he'll play though. It's a big ask for him to come in and fill Olise and Eze's shoes, but we could all do with a lift. My guess is he'll be on the bench. I didn't hear any mention of any of the other absentees, but I did join the presser five minutes late.

It seems the following ex-sickies are now available:
- Doucoure
- Lerma
- Ahamada
- Ward
and as you say
- Franca

No dates for Eze, Olise and Henderson
Ferguson fit to play for the U21s (apparently)
Schlupp should be back soon
Tomkins injured in training.

I can't imagine Franca being ready for the pace of the English game currently. Didn't MacAllister go on loan for a while?

"Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson confirms Cheick Doucoure, Jefferson Lerma, Joel Ward, Mathues Franca and Naouirou Ahamada are all available for Saturday's trip to Newcastle.

James Tomkins is out with a calf injury, while Jeffrey Schlupp, Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze and Dean Henderson also miss the trip to the north east.

Nathan Ferguson is playing with the under-23s and "making progress"

Excellent news.

Lerma and Doucoure obviously huge for us.

I won't begrudge anyone disagreeing but I sincerely hope in Eze's absence we see Ahamada in there. I like what I've seen of him, seems to have a raw spark and ability to at least make use of that - goes forward with the ball and at players. With CD/JL behind him (no defensive duties) and being an Eze replacement as opposed to playing ahead of him (where he might come in for flak) seems like the perfect opportunity for us and him to see what he can do there.

Likely we won't see this but I'd be encouraged by it.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Hughes, Lerma and Doucoure protecting the back 4. Should be good for another 0-0.
Really hope Hughes doesn’t get discarded.

GK - Johnstone
LB - Mitchell
RB - Ward
CB - Guehi
CB - Anderson
MF - Lerma
Mf - Doucoure
MF - Ahamada
LW - Ayew
RW - Rak Sakyi
CF - Eduoard

That would be a pretty solid XI.

I think Hughes either starts in place of either Doucoure or Lerma, comes off the bench for one of them or all three play and one of them is pushed forward. Whilst you midfield 3 would be solid it does leave us very light in our attacking options and so we may see Ahamada in the Eze role.

No offence Nick & i know you like reminding certain fans in the NW of the 0-3 cock-up . Since when has NF started playing for the U21's? Doombear/Steeleye, any help? I know they had a friendly against Colchester(?) in midweek, nothing on official website that i can find.

TBH Eagleman I always somewhat ignore the Ferguson news, as it seems to always be the same lines without ever actually going beyond that. They report on him as though he was a regular or stalwart that's had a few games out!

And yes, I even managed to give a bit of a dig too regarding the 'crying', was surprised they published it haha

Would be interesting to see what it’s like on the other side of that proverbial fence…

Nathan Ferguson came on as a sub in our last u21 game vs Liverpool, they (u21s) haven't played since.
