#OTD in 1999, Oliver Reed died while filming GLADIATOR. Reed had consumed 8 pints of beer, 12 shots of rum, half a bottle of whisky, and shots of cognac after challenging sailors from HMS Cumberland to a drinking contest in a pub. He was armwrestling sailors when he collapsed.

Watched it again the other day. Great film and Reed was a great actor. Loved his voice. Such a shame he finished himself off so early, he certainly loved life. As for vodka. I enjoy a shot or two before supper. Two gallons would last me at least a couple of years. Don't believe Tommy Lee could drink that amount in a day - he probably spilt most of it.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |
