Everton to be deducted 12 points

For the implications it would have on the league and football, I hope this happens. However, for the implications this will have on the league, football and the likes of the forementioned Chelsea, Man City, Forest etc... I don't think this will happen. I don't even feel for Everton fans if it does, they would be happy the club are spending money to improve their standings in the league. Our deduction, we didn't even see the benefit of, we just had an incompetant owner who wasn't fit to run a bath, let alone a football club.

I think they'll end up losing 6 points because the powers that be will want to give them a chance to escape relegation. Even with their recent Houdini style acts in recent seasons it'd be a mountain for them to climb with a 12 points deduction. They'd need to be in the territory of playing to the level to get into Europe and they are nowhere near that.

amazing that in italy clubs are regulary deducted points when they step out of line but The FA / premier league / "Powers that be" in england have no backbone.

If convicted it will be a fine they can easily afford plus a transfer embargo so heavily conditioned as to be effectively worthless and it will be applied at the time most convenient to Everton.

It is delayed because it's complex. Think of it as a trial you need to gather the evidence and present it to the other side first with a fair amount of clubs making it slow/difficult to even get all the records required. Look at Man City for example its been years and on purpose they are holding things up because they can afford to. Those clubs which have been relegated it's over and have no valid case you can't prove that by them spending more has changed any results and the same with if you argue if they had so many points they would have been relegated again you don't know that. It's messy and doesn't look good for the sport I expect some payments will be paid that is it. They need to make football in this country transparent too much hidden away everything when it comes to money side of things should be open (they wont do this because its another corrupt sport)

Looking at the teams in PL this season I think I would risk accepting a 6 point deduction. Hopefully, if they appeal and lose, deduction is increased

It's not enough to give them a 12 points deduction, to get rid of Andy Burnham you would have to relegate them.

I agree that its both complex & convoluted - The only way that I think it could work is if the PL employed say 4 full time sports specialized accountant / auditors, these accounts / auditors being responsible for say 5 clubs each, they work hand in hand with each club as sort of financial watchdogs throughout each season, so that at any given time there is a financial report available so it can be easily seen by club & PL if a club is within the rules or about to take a decision which will put them outside the rules so that this transparency provides the basis for any FFP charges. Of course it relies on the PL employing the right people & the clubs agreeing to allow complete transparency to these auditors throughout the clubs financial lifetime. I doubt it would happen & if it did it would probably just drive any underhand dealings deeper underground. Originally posted by grumpymort
