What makes you think Clyne is on £80k a week, it’s nowhere near that. He is on £29k a week and Ward is on £40k.

Its not a Silly rumour or false nonsense its there in print , it might not be right but its there , but no need to be abrupt about it . it is a discussion forum after all not a dictatorship.

I had read Clyne was on £80k a week, but it just didn't make any sense, he isnt first choice pick, he came on a free, so we didn't have to match his wages. Nobody really knows, what players on earning or is in their contracts. Jordan told an amusing tale of Cliton Morrisons contract, he insisted on a clause, that he would get a £250,000 bonus, if he was called up to England U21s. He then chose to play for Ireland a got no bonus. The point of the story is, that players have lots of add ons, are they quoted as salary, when they may not triggered.

Surely Tomkins, who is rumoured to be on £50k a week, is now on a lower basic and higher add ons based on appearances etc. He must know he wouldn't get even half of that in the Championship so would accept maybe £30k a week plus £20k per game he plays. If SP hasn't adjusted his contract at each renewal he's a complete idiot
