Sir Jim Ratcliffe admires former Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards and is keen on him being part of Manchester United's revamped football operations as the British billionaire's acquisition of 25% of the Red Devils edges closer. He's been at Selhurst under 4 different Chairman as player, manager, coach, DoF for nearly 30 years and through a scenario where club nearly ceased operating yet, people want to call him a traitor or incompetent because he left for another management role?! Shake my head in disbelief. Just doesn't happen in the pragmatic real business world, only in the overly sentimental world of football.

Personally - I don't think he's a traitor or anything like that. I wasn't happy when he left originally but also recognise that that's football. I don't think he's been that good with our transfers. At best, below average would be my own rating of our transfers over the years.

I doubt he will go but he is turning up interesting players on a modest budget and also helping a good playing culture at CPFC...something Man U are desperate to change.
