Shame Killian Phillips is out on loan. Would be handy having another midfielder available, even for just the bench. Appreciate the prem is a large step up but when you look at our bench for midfielders it’s very weak?

Our bench is terrible generally Could have picked up Ross Barkley on a free. Looked pretty decent against us on Sat. Andros also showed he still has it. Apparently on 12k a week. Would have had more impact on the squad than Franca will.

He ran it for Luton, how we could have done with him. He looked really good in other games I watched recently for Luton, it wasn’t just against us. A better version of Hughes in my opinion?

I know it's a big ask for a youngster but I'd like to see Ozoh get some more minutes. He certainly looks as if he might be more physically capable than a lot the U21s, plus he looks composed on the ball. I'm not saying start him, but maybe start giving him 15/20 minutes from the bench to see how he gets on. Hughes is a decent player, but I'm just not sure he can be relied on defensively. Regardless he's the most likely to step in. I'd plonk Ahamada in for Eze while he's out by virtue of the fact he is quick and direct and should be able to put pressure on the opposition's backline. While CD and Eze are out I would try a midfield/forward line of: Eduoard Ayew Ahamada Olise Hughes Lerma If performances don't improve and results don't come then Roy has to change things as much for the morale of the squad as anything. We also have Franca who on his debut cameo looked great, followed this with a dodgy cameo and then hasn't been given another chance. I really hope his confidence hasn't been smashed. Some players have obvious natural ability and you need to allow them to make mistakes and to be inconsistent. Roy doesn't seem to accept that, unless it is an old pro.

An alternative is to stick Olise or Jordan through the middle and shove Eduoard out wide with Mateta through the middle, but we all know JP doesn't have the legs to start.

Look Hughes just isn't Prem standard - too slow and too lightweight - to my mind he is a lower standard Jonny Williams - where is he these days...?? But the comparison seems fair in my eyes - good feet, but just too lightweight - Hughes has the added negative of being so slow..!! So I would go Schlupp next to Lerma - he's quicker and more athletic - that said my preference would be Ozoh - but no way Roy will do that..!! Then I'd go Ahamada - but in an 8 rather than a 10 - just to give a little more protection, solidity in the midfield. Think that may work.. Final point Richards please instead of Ward..!!
