This article in the inews posits the question as to what is the point of what Palace are doing in the PL. No goals, no entertainment but just enough points to bob along in mid-table. A risk averse approach with limited "fun" as the article suggests. This seems to be the existential question that has fuelled these boards in recent years (especially since the final couple of years of Roy's reign).

Brighton were in a very similar position until Bloom decided he wanted to go down a different route. He's made his money in gambling and his gambles are paying off and everyone has forgotten what they were like under Hughton.

Right now I personally think we have a pool (albeit small) of talent that means we should be being braver, taking more risks and trying to actually entertain the fans, rather than just grinding out results. What is the point of Roy's approach? It may work to get a midtable finish, but does anyone really enjoy the football and his stubborn refusal to experiment?

I don't blame Roy, he's delivering what many of his feared he would. He will likely keep Palace up. But I no longer think that's enough.

If we want entertainment then we need to be in the VAR free Championship .

And we still need a striker

Rubbish article, Palace bashing.

How do we change, borrow money we don't have then go broke, tried that twice NOT FUN.

Until we have owners prepared to spend Parish is making the best of a bad job. Brighton got a mention, well lucky for them they have an owners whose prepared to spend.

Perhaps the journo would like to point us to a rich owner ?

We are grinding on akin to a giant armadillo across hazardous terrain.

In terms of Chris Hughton, Brighton finished 15th and 17th in his last 2 seasons. He likes his teams to be compact and admitted himself he is not the most expansive coach.

That article aside, to answer your question, yes, we are boring, and does it matter? Yes if it is not producing results.

Pathetic assessment of the club, we are a small club punching above our weight without the resources to pay big money, no sugar daddy, no small oil producing nation, the squad has doubled in value over the past two deasons, and who is to say Franca and Hendersen in a years time are players will cant afford to buy, the two collapsed deals was a blow, i really dont know what people expect, if you did a list of how big you think each club is, IMHO we would be about 30th.

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

I'd argue yes, it does matter... now.

I hear/read a lot of 'boring', 'if you don't move forwards you go backwards' etc. however never fully bought into it. I was quite happy plodding along, for a period, if it meant survival. If I'm honest, beyond a miracle or something quite genius being implemented at the club, I couldn't see how we'd manage it.

We're in the position now however of our PL survival hinging upon a few players who may not show the loyalty/willingness to stay as Wilf and may become further demoralised if we do not 'make moves'. We have a good spine to the first XI however are lacking in about 4 positions (RB/LB/LW/ST). That's all provided nobody gets injured which they do, have and will.

Roy's return said nothing about the man to me, he'll do his job to the best of his ability and we should be grateful. What it did say for me however, especially when he was extended, is that the board had run out of money, ideas or both.

The absolute ideal for me as a Palace fan, at a minimum, is that we buy for the first XI alongside identifying a manager who knows the score and will take us forward. Once that is done, we can flirt with the likes of the Francas and Ahamadas of this world.

Right now, we feel like a club with a split personality. We tried something but bottled it in a panic and have resorted back to our old selves, purely just trying to eek out another PL season. We have to give something a try sooner or later. As long as it's not too ridiculous, there's a good chance it will yield results for us.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

This season was always going to be difficult, and it has been made worse.
We have suffered badly from injuries to our best players on top of losing our best player.

However 'boring' we might be, it is way better than playing QPR in front of 12k.

I can tolerate the boring football when we win.

Not so much when we lose.

Or Charlton, I hear they have a lot of fun in L1.
