You'd imagine West Ham were trying to get Jota (complicated from a tax perspective) and/or Ibrahim Osman over the line and were keeping us, Betis and Lyon on tenterhooks dependent on their signings getting finalised in time. As it was they didn't manage to finalise Jota or Osman, and so probably pulled the plug on their outgoings so they weren't left short, and blamed it on the old faulty fax machine or similar.

Fair enough from them really but definitely a bit frustrating for us that we needed a winger and put ourselves in a position where us getting that was dependent on West Ham's ability to pull off audacious moves in the final hours of a month long transfer window.

Still think we could do with signing a free agent senior winger to plug the gaps for when Olise is injured, but I don't expect that will happen now, as the club will probably think we can make do with what we have. Bit of a shame, but what can you do. Maybe Munoz will end up starring for us on the wing...!
