British Gas tops my list for poor service. I recently cancelled my service contract after endless difficulty in getting them to fix an issue with our heating system.

Please take care - they demanded money two years running after I did not renew my contract with them. I have kept paperwork ready for an attempt this year. Used number on their demands to speak to a human being.

BG put my gas boiler service contract up from £60 to £250 and couldn't understand why I told them to get lost. They offered me a great deal by reducing it to just £200. I pointed out I already had signed with a rival for £60 pa.

Covid gave companies the excuse to provide non-existent Customer service. It's taking a lot longer than anticipated for these companies to realise who pays their wages.
Council's are pi55 poor.
British Gas doesn't seem to have a customer Services depertment
Scottish Power just initiate legal action and are generally utter b'stads.

I can't think of a single shop or national chain that now doesn't hide behind 'supplier issues', or a convoluted telephone or website.

HMRC - a league of their own.

I s*** you not - their response to getting phone calls asking for an update is to turn their phone lines off - one way of dealing with the calls and getting your answer ratings up.

Get to 40 minutes on hold when the lines are open - they cut you off. Again isn't recorded on the stats.

Get through and you get to deal with a thick Troglodyte, who has about as much knowledge of the tax system as I do about Quantum Physics. That or Windows 7 their end will crash (give you three guesses which company supports their systems, cough "think Horizon" cough.

They have brought out a Chatbot now - but it can't answer individual questions and I've had more success accessing Kiera Knightly's knickers than I have getting into their manned webchat.

Only issue is they don't have email - so you get to write to them via post. The reason "e-mail isn't secure". So let's hand it over to my postman, who can't even read the words "do not bend". c***s.

Then when they finally do reply, they give you 14 days to answer and they don't get round to processing your reply in 6 months - but in your eyes they are late. So then you end up applying to the department that deals with post over 12 months old.

Then to get it off their statistics they hand it over to private debt collectors - who do actually answer the phone, but are just c***s too.

An absolute shower of s***e - that is held up as an example in Government of how to do it correctly.

That and I've a framed tax demand on my wall for £268 million they sent me last year - that when I called up to query they asked "would I like to make full payment today" and then when I said I didn't owe it - that it would be best if I setup a payment plan while it got sorted - the interest on that is accruing at £38 a minute. .

Where's my ITV drama eh!

It is absolutely appalling nowadays with supposed 'trained' customer service assistants constantly jumping in and talking over me - if I do manage to get through - clearly trying to get me off the phone quickly and keep their stats up.

I have had big problems with NOW/Sky where my offer period ended and the monthly charge increased over 60 percent! I told the overseas chap in the call centre I wished to cancel after he was very rude and he just left me with the mic open for about 4-5mins, not responding. Complaints to them have been met with stony silence and only avenue now is to go to Ofcom and find out why when I said CANCEL, NOW/Sky carried on charging me?

Be where you are; otherwise you will miss your life.

Don't get me started on Octopus. Yes, that energy supplier.
"Which recommended 5 years in a row".
OK I'll start....
They moved my account to to Scottish Power against my advice so I lost 3 months of PV exports. They offered £60 for a slow response and getting it wrong and told me to claim the PV loss from Scot. Power. EVEN THOUGH THEY ADMITTED THEY WERE WRONG.

Eventually went to the Ombudsman who told them to pay £100 for inconvenience, £130 for missed PV exports and £61 for backdated PV exports.
It took 4 months of ignoring my complaint and 3 months of ombudsman investigation.

I shout at the radio whenever their ad comes on.

Love this thread - customer service - or the lack of it - makes me an angry and grumpy old man!
I wanted to change a flight very recently (I had bought flexible tickets) but it would not let me do it online and their chatbox didn't know what I was talking about.
No number on the website so I found an email address and 4 emails later and 4 days having passed no one would give me the number to call!
Eventually I got hold of the airline I had booked through.
One hour on the call later I was told that despite having paid an extra £250 each way for flexible that I couldn't change because they were using a partner carrier for a section of the flight.
They told me that if I phoned them that they might be able to change things - I don't hold out much hope.
I will not let it go and will use every effort to at least get £500 back because I can't change a flight that was booked flexibly!

thats gotta be Ryanair. The only airline i know that land 100 miles from a city and declare that they are flying you to 'CityName-military airstrip name'.....Barcelona Reus.....a feckin pilgrimmage away.

Or imagine landing at Paris-Vatry airport. Its a two hour commute to the centre of Paris. You may as well dispense with flying altogether and just take the Eurostar.

trying to get a phone replaced at an O2 shop was like the death of a thousand cuts - it wud be too painful for me to recall and too boring for you to read so we'll leave it there. Big problem these days is this private public mish mash - you get a gravy train with no accountability, hence sh*t in our rivers and everything falling apart.

I had several flight delays, there was no customer service at all. There was a chat box that I told to f*** off about 20 times. No vouchers, no refunds, they do not live up to any airline standards whatsoever. Without absolute scum like Michael O'Leary the world would be a much better place.
It's hilarious how backwards airline travel is in Ireland. There are no trains to any airport. For certain, relatively normal destinations, there is no choice except to use Ryanair - in which case I just won't go.

I’ve got an issue with Sky at the moment, I’m changing to Sky stream, so obviously I don’t need the dish anymore, but they’re refusing to come and take it all down, he said it’s my property now and my responsibility, I said you put it up though, but surprise surprise they want the Sky Q box back.

I would’ve told them to shove it and gone back to Virgin, but as stated before they treated us like s*** after ripping us off when we wanted to leave after 18 years

So basically media companies, I wouldn’t piss on them!!
