In all the games I have seen Franca play (that is all of them) he has had confidence and skill. Yes he has been knocked off the ball a couple of times but he has also set up opportunities for others to score (they missed of course). In the Brighton game it was as if the rest of the team had been told to keep the ball from him. I say play him on the left allow him to come inside AND SHOOT if he misses he is as good as what we have. If he scores he is better.

I think yes it is amazing opportunity to show case his talent. A quick reality check… olise, eze geuhi out. All of a sudden add in franca, Wharton and the defender from genk, now I’m not saying they are on the same level, but we don’t know they could come in and do us a good job. I’d certainly be excited to watch it . Add in ahamada and ozoh in the mix and I think we will be ok until eze returns. Roy just needs to change his god dam tactics and be more progressive rather than defend the game before it even starts.

He's an Eze replacement, always was. England has some morbid fascination about blooding attackers on the wing in the country. think It all started with Henry!

Eze's stuggles with tracking back Etc, so Franca should fit in there a little better too. so with Eze out this isn't really lacking much more than it would be with him in.

"It was a Team effort, I guess it took all players working together to lose this one"

From the times he has played, he has looked lively, quick, not bad at passing, won some good free kicks and takes chances to get past players and take a shot.

That feels like something slightly more exciting than other options that have been used before him.

He may make mistakes but I'd be pretty sure in thinking the fanbase would rather he tried to affect the game which has generally seen him thrust into lost or losing games than play some of the slower moving defensive players.

He may not be the end product but I don't think we can really judge him until Roy gives him a game to start, in his favoured position and a game we aren't chasing with a 2 goal deficit and a game where he's put on with 2 other youngsters.

Roy spoke about not affecting the morale of the younger players but he's done the complete opposite from what I've seen up until now. That's not meant as another dig at Roy, rather a fact of what he's said and done in games.

Playing youngsters when the games dead and buried, blaming them for mistakes, not starting any of them.

Anyway, hopefully we will get a chance on seeing if he can cut it in the Premier league.

I dont expect perfection but I hope for some positive and intelligent play if he does start.

I would like us to start with Franca but the more I think about it I expect us to play the same tactics and formation but put in Holding or Richards in for Guehi and Edouard left with Ayew right. Then the midfield will be Lerma, Hughes and Schlupp. Munoz would be a likely starter - in my opinion. But Franca will probably get minutes at the end.

Won't be Holding, AS. He's out until May with an ankle injury.

This is what I have thought for a while now. Franca has had plenty of sub appearances now and has not once grabbed his chance. People talk about liking him and thinking he looks good. I'm curious as to what it is they think is so special about him.
I'm happy to accept that at some point in the future things could just 'click' for him but up to now? He has done nothing. And we only see him in matches. The coaching team see him day in day out in training. There is obviously a good reason why he is not being given more minutes.

Its a combination of the fact he's clearly got technical ability and belief in himself as a young player who is going to improve given the right platform. He's not afraid to try things. In case you didn't see his cameo against Man City - he wasn't afraid to have a go - and "skinned" Walker. We do not know if he's the real deal but we want to find out. The alternative is what? Schlupp? He's 31 - we know what he brings - right now, not a lot.

That 3.5 seconds is the only decent thing he's done in his cameos to date. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there's more to come. But I can understand why Roy's not rushing him into the line up at the moment...that's all I'm saying.

I would put him on from the start, f**k it, why not?

Problem I have is if it comes off "Hodgson only did it cos of injuries". If we let in a pile of goals from Franca's side " Hodgson is an idiot what chance did the boy have" etc. etc.

Constantly, damned if you do and damned if you don't. Any risk can always be seen many ways.

Bottom line is, we wont win another game this season with the regular soldiers only, we just have to gamble.

Olise is likely to be unavailable for most of the season. His injury is serious.

No choice. We have to take chances now. Much as the old bu99er hates taking risks. It may even be fun.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

Are are aware that Eze and Olise are injured so we have zero creativity in the team. If those two are fit 100% agree, but things have changed.
As has been said playing Schlupp on the left offers nothing going forward and he's not even bothering to track back - see the 2nd Brighton goal on Sat.
I think it's a gamble worth taking

You are pinning all our hopes on him wrong footing Walker? Once? For all you know he might have not even meant that!
