He has two goals in 40 League 1 games over the past two years.

Why do people think that U21 football is any good? The standard is clearly miles below any form of EFL football, let alone Premier League.

Isn't he about to go on loan to Helsinki?

There are no PL games until the end of March for us, Luke may get in 3 appearances in that time for the U21s.

Agreed.

He has failed in his two loans spells. Back in the U21's he has finally started showing some form. My guess is that OG decided it would be better to continue re-building his confidence.

I don't think this is the end for him, my guess he will go on loan again next season.

As Robk has said, it may be that he is going to the top Finnish club on loan. The Finnish season starts on the first weekend of April, so if he is indeed to go out on loan to Helsinki, he may well be on his way any day now for pre-season training.

It baffles me, one good win against a top 6 team and suddenly its the class of 92

I follow our U18s and U21s it's an integral part of the Palace experience I wouldn't be without.

I actually prefer it in many ways to the PL, in particular you can watch a game without the theatre of endless interruptions.

I enjoy watching these games too. Very little diving or injury simulation, and no VAR!

It also qualifies you to speak with a little bit more authority when it comes to discussing the prospects of some of our academy players progressing to the senior squad - most people who bang on about "giving the kids a chance" couldn't even name one of our U21 or U18 players.

U21s also have a game tomorrow so clearly we need a decent number of players available for that.

Also heard the rumours re the Finnish loan. Plange has now had 3 unsuccessful loans now (Belguim team, Lincoln and Carlisle) so needs to get his career back on track ASAP.

As we saw when we were in admininstration, especially the 1st one under Coppell, some of the young lads really stepped up and played admirably for no doubt quite low wages. Plange did similar at Derby, hence his move to Palace.

Now he is on a longer term, better paid deal maybe a little of the desire has diminished.
When he scored a pre-season hattrick a couple of years ago (Walsall?) you could see there was a good player in there, and his movement is quite intelligent.

However, something has clearly gone wrong. He is contracted until next summer (2025) so needs to make this last year count.
He is different from our other strikers so i can see a place on the bench (to come on if we are chasing a game, and went to 442) would make sense next season.

As with Steeleye's post that you replied to, i wish there was a 'Like' button. Well said.
