Your assessment depends on there being insufficient sea to sink the ship. That won't be the case. The whole will most likely get bigger and let in more water.

There's a hole in your analogy.

When have I said we should have uncontrolled immigration?
Also, there is no-one like me.

One has to define controlled.

I would say that controlled means a stable population number much like it has been for decades before the recent mass immigration.

Immigration restrictions are causing a shortage of curry chefs.

[Link]

Sounds like a bad joke aimed at the right-wing working class and their love of Indian food.

I've an unhealthy curry habit but if those are all the skills it takes to get you a visa then we might as well start a recruitment drive for foreign binmen because our natives must be fcuking useless.

Yes limit numbers from Europe to allow more refugees from the middle east theatres of war that we are partly responsible for with our foreign policies. A good plan.
Well done Judge

I think we have to be careful with the term British passport holders.
Surely if an immigrant comes here then gets a BP.....he is free to move within Europe.
So we don't know how many are originally from here.

O.k fair enough,it's a fairly strange analogy but I get your point. I'm responding to you points that immigration is responsible for the the housing crisis, which the figures don't suggest, so far. Yes, potentially and probably there is a natural limit to the population of the country, but considering we are living in more spacious households and not using the housing stock we have got efficiently I think it is fair enough to say we have not reached that point.
We do need a sensible debate on immigration, I have just concentrated on the impact on the housing market but what are the wider effects and impacts. That debate needs to be based on actual figures.

Ultimately.

We must remember that each wave of migrants, and they will be continuous with world population increase and displacement, will have several children each. Most likely more than the average. Even if that trend slows for one wave of migrants, there will be another right behind them. The population will sharply increase year on year and an ever increasing proportion of them will be migrants.
Aside from considerations about housing and services, we must also consider the impact that it will have on our democratic system. We risk our elections being dominated by identity politics and minority issues.

Last year the population of London finally reached the level it was at in 1939.

After many years of "mass immigration" we are back to where we were 80 years ago, So much for "overcrowding"!

I'm not disputing the figure but wonder how the fcuk did they managed that without towerblocks. I know most people were on the outskirts but then they would have been less affected by the blitz.
