The rumour mill states that we insisted that full payment be made up front whereas Chelsea wanted terms so that they had cash left over to buy a few more players

If true that makes Chelsea seem like even bigger d!cks. They probably wanted part of the fee dependent on appearances or some sh!t.

I obviously don't understand FFP because I fail to see how Chelsea can spend so much money.
I also don't understand the rules on squad size and players being loaned out?
Man City do their thing but they trim their squad and also most buys end up playing.
Olise is making a massive mistake in my opinion but it is what it is and there is nothing we can do but moan about it.

I just hope we get the whole sum upfront and that we reinvest it wisely asap.

Me neither, but, when Chelsea sign players & give them 8 year contracts, then basically divide the transfer fee & wages by 8 & they will be ok for FFP(just). What annoys me with this transfer is the possibility they 'Tapped' Olise up. It's already being reported Palace could put a formal complaint in. No doubt, if that were to happen, they would probably get off scot free with just a 'warning'.

I expect any fine levied will be split over 8 years

Isn’t his younger brother in the Chelsea youth set up, very easy for Chelsea FC to “tap up” without direct contact. Speak to Olsie junior and ask him to have a word with his brother, job done.

Anyway we all know tapping up goes on all the time.

So if we were to do the same our net spend would be about a couple of million a year or less!

What is really sad about losing Michael Olise is they way both Parish and Freedman seemed to have been stitched up by his agent. I do hope this is a leaning curve for them. As for Olise if he wants to move on, well so what, if he is not happy at CP then let him go and take the reported fee whatever that may be and invest in the team. We can never compete in terms of team investment like the top six can and for that reason we will always be at best an average EPL team, hopefully safely hovering around mid table. Just enjoy the high quality games and teams that we get to see at this level.

Brighton have shown the way for the smaller teams in the EPL by having Professionals run the business side of the club, who seem to know how to secure talent at good prices and then move it on at a huge profits, all this is being done, without having an adverse effect on the teams performance. We need to find a similar model.

Sadly both Parish and Freedman seem unable to run a succesful transfer window as proven over several windows now and seem to lack either the ability or indeed have the right network in place to source good players at the right price.

As we approach the end of this window we are still somewhat short of players in key positions and I do still hope that we can bring some good signings in, otherwise I have some concerns about the outcome at the end of this season.

The way I understood it from SJ is that Chelsea are taking a big punt on success in the future.

Qualifying for the Champions League and all it's lovely money year after year should be a realistic ambition for the club. Off the back of that they can increase merchandising and sponsorship deals. In addition there is their highly successful academy which also generates revenue .

If they're not successful well the owner is a billionaire and can bail them out until they are.

We wont adopt the same model as our owners probably don't want to underwrite our losses.

As the selling club Palace have every right to insist on the full amount up front or no deal. It makes no difference whether Chelsea meet the release clause or not. They still have to agree the TERMS of payment with Palace and we are entitled to refuse anything other than 100% up front.
£35m isn't exactly killing Chelsea's finances. If they want him that bad they'll pay.

Simon Jordan is not an accountant or a finance expert and his claims have been completely shot down by a football finance expert who says Chelsea are indeed in grave danger of heavy penalties for FFP breaches.

I fully agree, they have to put their money upfront and not try to make it a deal that adds up to 35mil, including any add on's. Hopefully we have the sense to insist on a share of any future sale as he is bound to end up at PSG if he is any good!
