Crystal Palace still await their first league success of the year after drawing 0-0 at Middlesbrough.
Palace were the better side throughout with Boro goalkeeper Jason Steele pulling out several fine saves.
However, Eagles keeper Julian Speroni almost gave the hosts the perfect start when he fumbled a cross from Tony McMahon before managing to push the ball over the bar.
Kagisho Dikgacoi had to clear Lukas Jutkiewicz's header off the line but Palace began to take a foothold on the game mainly through the dangerous Wilfried Zaha.
He fired a couple of long range strikes that just missed the target before Steele denied Jermaine Easter and Chris Martin with saves.
After the break, Steele thwarted Zaha and Martin who let fly shots from the edge of the box, while Palace almost won a penalty when Joe Bennett brought down Zaha just outside the area.
Steele then saved from Easter again and Ambrose blasted over the rebound. And right near the end, Jutkiewicz's strike from Justin Hoyte's was kept out by Speroni who helped Palace earn a point, although they have now not won in five Championship matches.
