Team news

Crystal Palace right-back Nathaniel Clyne misses out with a knee injury. He has undergone a scan on the knee after getting a knock in training before last week's Watford game. On-loan defender Paul McShane will step in.

Glenn Murray and Sean Scannell could push for starting roles, but Dean Moxey is not ready for a return to action.

Peterborough goalkeeper Joe Lewis and striker David Hibbert are out with knocks. Defender Craig Alcock is set to play after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Quotes

Roy Hodgson

"Looking ahead to tomorrow's match and we certainly won't be taking Peterborough lightly. We approach every game in the same way and know it will be a hard game.

"We lost on the opening day of the season up there and felt we were unlucky to lose that game, so we will be looking to put that right. Darren (Ferguson) has done a wonderful job down there and they have just signed a new striker (Tyrone Barnett, initially on loan, but with a view to a permanent transfer reportedly worth £1.4 million in total) from Crawley.

"That shows they want to stay in the Championship, by signing a player for that amount of money. Tyrone Barnett is someone we looked at ourselves but we weren’t in a position financially to take it further. Peterborough are certain to provide a tough test for us.”

Darren Ferguson

"Dougie has his team really organised and it is bound to be a difficult game. He made a really shrewd appointment when getting Lennie Lawrence, who I know well from doing my UEFA Pro Licence, as his assistant.

"I played with Dougie at Wolves and he has always had a good manner about him. His players have clearly taken to his methods and they are home and hosed already in terms of staying in the division."
