Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

At the CPFC business lunch last week .SP is reported in saying that plans for development of the main stand are underway and he hopes that that new stand will provide Palace with an additional 4000 seats plus additional space and facilities for corporate foe 2000 people . He gave no indication on time scale for the building of the stand or completion date . Let's hope this is the start of something big for the Palace . I feel we have the potential to be a top ten club both off the pitch and on it .

having been in the arthur a lot this season, i think this could easily be developed making more seating without raising the roof level much. The stand be knocked down and built up like at southampton etc with the concourse/food etc underneath as such, then can fill in the corner to meet up with the holmesdale and if/when whitehorse is done the corner could be filled in that end.

I also appreciated the info. If Palace is to be a top tier club it NEEDS a top tier venue, and that's not just about increasing the number of seats (to at least 40k+), but the type of seating too, based on demographics and business marketing. Relocate or stay it just needs to happen or we head back to a 2nd tier business model. That was always my accusation of CPFC for years prior to Parish and co: that owners were 2nd tier specialists business operators, getting promoted, selling players (Wright?) then deliberately not investing in staying up because the risk was too great. The new money deal now changes all that. It's seen as worth the risk (I'm waffling). But to get back to the topic, Rudi is right that we could never afford to redevelop before (barely escaped liquidation!), but now it's on the cards we need to, and changes everything, with Sainsburys, the council etc. We simply are now a PL club and that REQUIRES a PL venue - when? how? where? what? I don't know but that's the reality - end of story.

With the extra capacity the new stdium will have I suspect the carpark for the Sainsbury will have to be a double decker one to accommodate the extra traffic the new stadium will no doubt generate. The development at the Elmers End Tesca a few years ago did the same thing.

The delay makes me nervous and can surely only be explained by Croydon Council. It seems like every other club in London is getting the support they need and Croydon will be left with the most outdated stadium in the capital. What a triumph from the council that defined poor town planning.

Good job indeed, martin2412. This is exactly what is needed and solves a myriad of problems, both for CPFC and the neighborhood surrounding it. NOw let's get cracking, Croydon Council, the ball is in your court. Palace supporters, especially those who live in Croydon and can vote in council elections, it is time to mobilize and get the Palace message out and to the fore. We supporters helped save this club in 2010 and now we can guarantee its future at Selhurst Park. As an overseas supporter, the best I can do is encourage. Croydon councillors will not give me the time of day since I can't affect their positions. Same with anyone who doesn't live in the London Borough of Croydon. If necessary, we'll have to take a page out of (hesitation here) the Charlton supporters book and form a Selhurst or Palace Party as a lobby plus potential electoral threat. For that to happen, the Croydon based Palace supporters must unify and adopt strategies that will force the so-far recalcitrant council to get off dead center and act. We who can't directly help can support those who can three ways, support through vocal and monetary means, encourage winning strategies and tactics and warn of counter-productive strategies and tactics. This will a long term effort and requires determination and steadiness, two things Palace supporters have in abundance. The time to strike is now! Edited by kenbarr (16 May 2016 1.56pm)

We'll have a right battle with the residents/council if we really want a stand that high on the site of the AW. I haven't seen this plan before; well spotted.
