Not from a bygone era ...unfortunately, it still happens!!!!

Recently had a group in the area. A garden centre and a supermarket had to call out the rozzers to deal with "pikeys" (i.e. gangs of thieves) helping themselves to their goods with absolutely no intention of paying. In the end, local businesses refused to let them on their premises.

Whatever a person's heritage, I still don't understand how being decended from people who moved around, wherever they came from but now living in a house or static caravan is an actual thing, any more than being from a council estate would warrant me being classified a Chav, capital C. Although the English who embrace their roots i.e. haven't bothered to work themselves out of poverty are also granted special priveledges, just without any recourse for the negative labels they've be given. Despite the furore surrounding his suspension from Top Gear, it seems Jeremy Clarkson isn't done with the BBC just yet. He's just been booked as a guest host on topical panel show Have I Got News For You. The broadcaster is due to present the third episode in the satirical show's new season, which commences in April. However, Jim Mulville, managing director of production company Hat Trick, will be meeting with the BBC to find out whether the recently launched investigation into Clarkson's 'fracas' with producer Oisin Tymon, will prevent him from taking the hot seat, alongside Ian Hislop and Paul Merton. "I don't think the BBC know that he is due to be on," Mulville told The Independent. "It would be great. Have I Got News For You tries to have a bit of mischief so we will see if he can come on." Clarkson's has been a regular face on Have I Got News For You since Angus Deayton's resignation in 2002. He once famously disrupted proceedings by throwing a pen at Ian Hislop, leaving him with a cut to his face. "We had to stop recording," said Hislop. "He refused to believe it was blood. He said it was red biro and then apologised to me afterwards." Bosses at the BBC are yet to reach a decision on whether Clarkson still has a future with the corporation.
