The expiry date on 'we're clearing up Labour's financial mess' must surely be approaching. It was a clever tactic to blame the Labour party for the economy, when there was a global banking crisis, during a time where the Conservative party wanted to deregulate banks even further and had pledged to match Labour's spending.

People have short memories. Whoever's in power, conditions eventually change and they are deemed to have f***ed up regardless of the circumstances. Nature of the beast though. Happened before and it'll happen again.

This is a crystal palace website and I come on here to read about crystal palace. Don't try and influence who I'm going to vote for or how I should perceive a certain party or person. Let people make their own minds up rather than posting something from one source. If you wanna talk politics go and talk your local MP, I'd rather watch my local team thrash the mancs.

Not really sure what politics is doing on a CPFC website, I'm as interested in politics as the next and respect people wanna talk about it, but this is very one sided and my sixteen year old comes on here and reads this stuff, which can have a great impression on the young. Not saying we should have censorship of nothing people need to read the truth but some balance needs to be added. I bet if the Tories had lost we would have had similar threads about what a disaster labkur is. Pretty trivial if you ask Mr

All parties are criticised here by someone or other. If you're worried about your son being influenced by this forum I hope you don't buy a newspaper or own a TV either .

My issue with the link is that is an opinion. Based purely on today's result. Like arseholes we all have them. It's pure speculation which may or may not be proven to be correct.

It would be more Interesting if Nick posted the link and then put his point of view forward and the reasons why.

Otherwise it means nothing

Sure. But,its an interesting article. An opinion, yes. So,sometimes a link on its own can be valid. One loads on here might not agree with. But a valid issue. Its not just based on today's outcome. The Tories are committed to abolishing/amending the Act. Their own last Attorney General criticised them strongly for this. So,being against it is hardly just a tedious "out there" "nutty lefty" opinion. Now they have a majority they are likely to do so,not least because its a way of appeasing some segments of anti-EU/little englander sentiment, even though the Act and the Convention are actually nothing to do with the EU.

If they get rid of the Human Rights Act/European Convention on Human Rights, what will they replace it with?

There's loads in the press about the Act,but its almost all about a tiny part of what the Act actually relates to.

The Act sets out the fundamental rights and freedoms that individuals in the UK have access to. They include:

Right to life
Freedom from torture and inhuman or degrading treatment
Right to liberty and security
Freedom from slavery and forced labour
Right to a fair trial
No punishment without law
Respect for your private and family life, home and correspondence
Freedom of thought, belief and religion
Freedom of expression
Freedom of assembly and association
Right to marry and start a family
Protection from discrimination in respect of these rights and freedoms
Right to peaceful enjoyment of your property
Right to education
Right to participate in free elections

So,its hardly naff to raise the issue for debate...
