Interesting take on it from a Sunderland perspective. Sorry if it has already been posted.

Great signing; my worries of us cashing in on Bolasie to sign a big name striker are gone.

Plus we've landed a young talented english striker who may turn out to be better than anyone we've been linked with.

Fantastic signing with very limited downside.

We've signed two strikers who have great potential and with the service we can give them and AP boosting their confidence I'm more than confident our front line and midfield is stronger than last season.

Fantastic signings...!

Plus three quality goalkeepers in the squad and the Newcastle father son duo possibly arriving too.

Unbelievable transformation by 2010 yet again.!

Just need to nail down a CB.

Best transfer window ever.........

Good article on Wickham from a Sunderland perspective: [Link]

Slightly dramatic, but interesting nonetheless.

Hope it turns out better than last time we signed a promising young striker from Sunderland!

Really looking forward to see how he develops. Must be patient though.

At the time, it seemed quite a coup getting Gabbiadini as replacement for Wrighty. Shame he turned out so pants for us...scored goals practically everywhere else he went.

Hope this guy develops into the top striker it seems many people think he could be. Was rated quite highly while at Ipswich but sounds like Sunderland did their best to hold that back, who puts a tall/big striker on the wing?

Hopefully this doesn't have anything to do with Murray's position in the squad and he gets a full season with us this time round.

He wasn't promising. He was delivering. Then he joined us and wasn't really given a chance.

Just been through the Sunderland forum and there is some 94 pages of posts since the news of his potential sale to us broke.
I think he is the type of big strong no 9 we need to complete our forwards options. The forums are saying that his potential has never been fulfilled , he has no heart, he never looks up when on the ball, trains badly, poor attitude, wages of £60thou. Per week. In general apart from the odd it is a mistake to let him go most of the 94 pages are pleased he is off !
I only hope if we sign him we can change his attitude , from what they are saying, and enable him to fulfill his undoubted potential.
Let us hope we are not being sold a 'pup' !!!

What do Wayne Rooney, Toni Kroos, Cesc Fabregas and one or two other very top level players have in common with a certain Connor Wckham?

Know the answer to that and you will also know we have a diamond - albeit rough - at an incredibly cheap price.

If this goes the way I think it is going to go then we will have, over the next four years, our best striker since Wright. And then we can sell him for £35mill.

To make us the richest team ever to get relegated in 2020.

I think 9 million is a bit spiteful for Wickham.
Some on here were saying Austins not worth £15 million.
I'd start Murray, give Wickham a miss and see how Bamford gets on, with a view to signing him, if he's decent.

He signed a new 3 year deal with Chelsea and he made a media statement that his career is with that club. Both were designed to ram home the point to anyone listening that this lad is a year loan; he will not be sold

I take your point but when was the last time Chelsea brought a young player through the system? Unless he is a sensation with us the chances of him becoming Chelsea's main striker is nil. A player signing a new contract means nothing these days, Connor Wickham being a prime example.

Didn't John Terry start at Chelsea at 14?

And what a spoilt brat he turned out!!

Perhaps he just hated being in Sunderland and, if you've ever been there, you'll understand why - it's enough to p*ss anyone off.
