Well if people dont want him at Palace who would they prefer?
Hennessay certainly played better second half of the season but no way he is good enough, still makes mistake after mistake.

I have heard some lame excuses, but that takes the biscuit. He just isn't very good,as proved when a new goalkeeping coach came in and Allardyce and Lee didn't even put him on the bench.

But actually what your saying is the opposite of proof, it's a biased theory based on a few games + happenings in which no one really knows what went on that you have equated to being conclsuive evidence that he's not good enough. Personally I'd rather take his entire career into consideration but what do I know. If he wants out of course there is no point keeping him but I'd love to see the new gaffer come in and convince him to hold out for another year, at least let us see what he's really capable of if there is any possibility of it happening.

Apparently we should all be tremendously excited at the prospect of Joe Hart

Sure I read somewhere that his stats in the prem games he did play were absolutely terrible. Worse than any other keeper in the prem.

Was I imagining it or does anyone else remember and is there a link?

I don't have much of an opinion either way on this. However, the goalkeeping role is not just shot stopping. It is about commanding the box, organising the defence and instilling confidence in set pieces and on crosses etc.

Personally I am not so worried if the goalkeeper makes the odd howler, it is the lack of presence in the box that I find really worrying.

When you're thinking about which goalie?

Just overall. I saw him in most of the games he played. He gets down quickly and manages to get his whole body behind the shot. He's also physically stronger.

You must have seen him at the disco.
On the pitch he is one of the slowest keepers I have seen to get down.

Don't know about that but his saves per game and goals conceded per game were both worse than Hennessey's. Didn't really see that much of him but from what I did see he cost at least one goal and nearly a couple more with his quick distribution which was just too quick for our players. Also, the two close-range headers against Liverpool showed a lack of confidence in coming for crosses. Free him.

Early on he made a few fantastic one on one saves and looked as if he could be a great buy, but overall looked to be carrying a bit of excess and struggled with anything not straight at him. Also, very rarely caught anything and preferred to punch. On balance a confident Hennessey was a better choice.
Attitude appeared to be poor. I know quotes in the press are often misquoted but there where too many to all be wrong. Probably best for all concerned that he goes back to France as clearly not happy.

I was thinking about Hennessey. However, I haven't seen anything of Mandanda to think he is a viable alternative either. He seems to be a homesick, sick-note to me.

The only point that I was trying to make was that shot-stopping is only a part of being a goalkeeper; so mistakes leading directly to goals is only part of the problem.

I did, but only from my armchair and remember the clanger. Ok, admitting defeat in that statement.
