No one regrets cutting Wickham loose, and the same will be said for Ferguson when we finally dump him. In the future, it would be nice if we avoided players who where chronically crocked. It's a nice fantasy that an injury prone player will suddenly be healthy, but it never happens.

2018 Jan. (Sako) Palace 1 - 0 Burnley
2019 May (Batshuayi, Batshuayi, OG, Van Aanholt, Townsend) Palace 5 - 3 Bournemouth
2020 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Newcastle

Such is the harsh reality of top level pro sport. This poor kid is now on his third serious injury without breaking into the team even. I’ll be surprised if he is tested at first team premier level for a full game before he breaks again.

He should ask Zeki Fryers for some advice, currently without a club.

If so his blacked out Bentley days might well be over.

As a first team prospect, NF's season is over.

I suspect that Palace will be looking at signing a new right back in the summer, and in turn I think NF will be allowed to go out on loan.

If that happens, he may eventually put his injuries behind him and get his career back on track. I hope so.

I believe his contract is up this summer, so will it be renewed, do you think, Neillo?

I just feel so sorry for the poor lad.
All he wants to do is play football on a regular basis and he has been thwarted by his injury problems.
Must be heartbreaking for him.

These sick-bed players need to be dumped ASAP and avoided altogether - their bodies aren't up to it. We need replacements for RB and we can't bank on sickos like NF.

£35k a week will soften the heartbreak. He will find a club at a lower level, he doesnt seem strong enough for the physicality of the Premier.

saw him play for Stockport recently. Played left side of a 3 at the back. Did ok, but didn't stand out. Soon after the new manager went back to 442 and Fryers didn't feature. Released at the end of his 6 month contract .
Still only 29

At the moment is Ward is 1/2 centre back and 1/2 full back. Clyne can do the right back role but he does not have the physical presence to do the centre back role that Ward is playing. Ferguson i think could play this role so lets hope he is fully fit by the end of the season and with a full pre season under his belt he can push for a place in the first team next season.

A good post. With Mitchell playing a very advanced role on the left it does mean that ward is often the right side of what is basically a back 3. Ferguson if fit could play this type of role. Clyne is not suited to it.

So as we stand Ward is without doubt the best option we have at RB for the formation we play.

following on from this post makes me think how well suited Patrick VA would have been to the role young Mitchell is currently playing.
