And which player would we loan that would be as good as Olise?

Hard to imagine his sale would leave the team anything other than weaker. Business model or not, the idea of the game is not to weaken the side. I think sometimes we all forget that.

What a great statement, I wholeheartedly agree.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

This is true but, also, there is weakening a single position to strengthen the overall side.

Olise is an unbelievable player and I'm going to be more gutted if we lose him than Zaha in honesty.

However, if someone offers £70m for him which allows us to buy a replacement (who won't be as good) but also upgrades at right back and striker, doesn't that mean the overall team and squad is better?

Interesting reading all the comments about Olise today.

I think Olise is great, he’s certainly what I’d consider a prem quality player. I’m curious though, who would you choose between a prime Bolasie and a current Olise?

It’s just, I can remember not so long ago, Olise didn’t start games for us. As frustrating as that was for us fans…because most of us wanted him on the pitch over Ayew. His defensive game just wasn’t good enough.

Over the years we see players come and go. What tends to be proven, is that it’s quite possible to replace good players eventually…especially when we have the money to.

The reason I ask the question about Bolasie, is that he was a special talent also. So strong, robust, flair, pace…he had so many good attributes. But I think we could find a player like that again. I think we could find a player like Olise as well.

Just to add to what I put, Townsend managed very similar outputs in terms of a combination of goals and assists for us, in comparison to Olise. He was also far better defensively. Now I admit, Olise has room to get better, which will interest the big clubs, but for us, I still think there will be players out there that can contribute effectively to this side being a success.

That's a pretty presumptuous statement, having seen very little of both. Ahmada an upgrade on Macca? Really?

What was Macca going to give us given his age and injury record. That's why Palace let him go

It's difficult isn't it? In this day and age where any player with a bit of potential gets put up on a pedestal by fans and media alike, without haven't actually gone on and achieved something yet. Olise is good, and has great potential, hopefully he can realise it for us in the meantime. The one thing that separates him currently from Yannick is Yannick got his move to a "big" club...

Rumours of Rak-Sakyi loan to Leicester. IMO this would be an ideal move. He's not ready for the prem but a step up into the Championship with a team looking to challenge for promotion would be a good test for him and hopefully help to continue his development.

Bolasie for me everytime. He was so bat s*** crazy he didnt even know what he was going to do next. Olise has become a bit of a one trick pony for me he either comes in and tries to curl one to the far post , shoot or cross (not a criticism) . As a defender Bolasie was a nightmare to manage, our counter attack from defending corners was lightning quick.

Not entirely on board with the Bolasie/Olise comparison, two very different players IMHO just the same position. Olise is far more technically gifted with footballing intelligence. I wouldn't have Bolasie taking free kicks, corners etc and don't remember too many 'genius', defence splitting passes or crosses. If we were playing on the counter, reliant upon pace and wizardry, Bolasie all day of course. We also had prime Wilf on the other side too don't forget.

If MO were to have left early on in the window, for a huge sum, promised to be reinvested by Parish et al with substance based rumours of us bidding for x, y and z I'd be less apprehensive. With the season very soon to start and our transfer activity not very... active, let alone our previous history or general trust in a suitable replacement being brought in swiftly, despite his injury, I'd rather we keep ahold of MO for now. We have a solitary goal threatening winger who's gonna miss the start of the season as is, I'd rather that be the case though than to not have any at all.

Pepe, Ziyech, Diallo or Cornet are all left footed right wingers who could do a job for a year, and all probably available.

TeamTalk, now saying we have cancelled loans for Rak-Sakyi, Ozoh, Wells-Morrison and Whitworth?, might be rubbish

Good point and very true but only if the striker and right-back turn out to be better than what we have.

Spurs sold Bale for a record fee which they reinvested in (if I recall correctly) seven players, all but one of whom (Eriksen) was a relative flop, and they didn't even manage to make a profit when Eriksen left in the end.

The idea of trading your way to a better team is perfectly feasible, but it's not guaranteed to work.
