Bet you can't get the tune out your head now...

It was memorable.

It's like an embryonic stage of sword and sorcery metal.

I'd go with Robinson Crusoe as my favourite.

For me the clear winner.

From the same film
Bungditin
James Widdle

By far my favourite Carry On film, having actually been “up the Khyber” so to speak.
After our families were evacuated from Islamabad in 2001, those of us who remained watched this film, quite apt and certainly cheered everyone up ( oh and the cheap beer)

Onedin Line had the best tune but the programme itself seems less memorable.

Brilliant.

For me Jackie Lee and White Horses. Dripping with saccharine and very Junior Choice - but 11 on the nostalg-ometer.

Remember the song but nothing about the programme. I'd always assumed it was French (Camargue?) but, having checked, it was set in Yugoslavia.

anybody learning a new language ?

All the old Westerns seem to be on Youtube .....and probably in your target language....assuming your target language is popular enough.

currently working through 'il buono il brutto il cattivo' in Italian. It's Excellent progress because every scene is already fairly familiar with a dialogue you already know.

a lot more fun than boring language tapes. Hearing the list of crimes of Tuco, read out at his hanging....in Italian....pure comedy gold.

Lots of European kids programs around that time. This one was essentially dull and not memorable.

Not dull but, frankly, seriously f*****g weird was the Singing Ringing Tree. East German where the Commies oddly made a show about fairy tale royalty. I just remember the evil dwarf and the huge talking fish in a pretty small pond.

and as for Carry On names Charles Hawtrey's incompetent surgeon .. Doctor F.A.Good... in I think it was 'matron' ... is one of my favs, 'convenience' had some good names ... Spanner, Boggs ... and didn't women's libber June Whitfield take the name Prodworthy from Kenneth Connor's mayor in 'girls' (not trying to be esoteric, just saves typing).

Back in the 1980s someone informed me that at their local video store a "western" was the code word for under the counter p*** videos , as in "have you got any good westerns in at the moment"?

I don't know if this was specific to this store or was a more widely used euphemism ?
