I'm sure he has realised that his best chance of featuring in the Euros next Summer is to stay with Palace for the rest of the season, where he knows he'll be a regular starter. He can always move in the Summer after the Euros as I suspect there'll be plenty of interest in him then.

Depends what happens. He is currently surrounded by a number of quality international stars at a club with a very good moral, playing in front of one of the noisiest and most supportive fan bases in the country maybe even the world!!
Why move on? Stick with us as we slowly but surely build and be part of a great future. Or go of looking for lights and just find frustration. The kid is smart.

He comes across as thoughtful & intelligent in the way he plays & interviews, as a number of other posters on here have said he would do well to stay with us at least until the summer, especially if the option is go to a big club as back up for an existing established centre back pairing & under normal circumstances that is what I would expect to happen - the only thing that I would think would upset that line if thinking is if a CL team loses one of their established CB pairings to maybe a broken leg or other long term injury & the opportunity comes for Marc to slot straight into the starting line up.

I don't think there is any chance he'll move on in Jan.

He's clearly a smart and considered guy. Moving from Chelsea when he did also shows that he values playing over a big name.

He'll have a serious eye on keeping his England place. To do that he needs to be playing.

Whilst we aren't brilliant, we do keep things tight, so its not as though we are getting battered every week.

Look we all know it would be an honour possibly a childhood dream or long held ambition (insert one) to play for a champions league club and so we don't stand in his way if they come in WWE should not be greedy and let him.leave for a handful of loose change and a sticky toffee.

It will be Olise all over again as the press these days don't care about the truth

This really seems like head v heart situation for all parties.
The optimistic view is that he, Eze and Olise are happy with Palace, believe in the future of the club and want to be part of it.
The pessimistic one is that they know they'll be leaving so might as well, in two cases so far, secure a big pay rise before they go to form the basis of their wage offer when they go.

Not unusually it's hope over expectation.

All 3 players have earnt improved contracts by their performances on the pitch & their relative value to the club, improved contracts give both parties the opportunity to evaluate the situation now compared to when the previous contract was signed, especially in such things as release clause values, so if in any unfortunate instance(s) that we do end up losing them at least we are suitably compensated.

Click-bait has already started with him, Spurs this time, no mention of the fact that Chelsea will be able to match/better any offer we get & decide if they want him. . . . [Link]

The Spurs links are always just bull as they won't even get anywhere near offering a decent price.

The other big benefit he has is playing for an ex England manager who is clearly well respected by the players and many more. He must be learning a huge amount from Roy.

I suspect players are generally motivated by money and the chance to win trophies. Palace can match most, although not all, clubs on but definitely fall short on . I would be astonished if he does not leave next summer with his reputation enhanced having played / excelled in a major tournament. My main concern is that, if he goes, others will want to go too. Perhaps we can afford to lose one, but two or more would be a real problem.

I have no problem with one star per season going as the money will be invaluable, it’s using that money prudently on a suitable replacement and filling squad gaps that will ensure continuity in the progress of the team.

£60-£70m for Guehi would allow the purchase of a decent striker and full back which would then free up our normal income to go towards the new stand. We could cope with Richards replacing Guehi, Holding being 1st replacement and Tomkins 2nd replacement whilst a youngster comes through.
