Dear heavens what a dreary lot....... don't smoke, don't drink, eat well, exercise - physically and mentally....

am I the only one growing old disgracefully on fags, gin, red wine and red meat?

Well I don’t smoke, I can’t stand gin or red wine, but I eat what I want, when I want.

I think Ricky Gervais has it right, someone said to him, you know if you gave up drinking and eating fatty food and smoking you could add ten years to your life. His reply was, well if you can make that ten years my twenty’s again then great, but I don’t want another 10 years of old age thanks, who really wants to live till their 90’s when chances are you’re going to be bed ridden and not in control of your bowels

I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. Imagine waking up in the morning knowing that's the best you're going to feel all day.

I don't know of anyone in their 90s who is playing bowls.

I often think about all the money I could be saving on fags, but then I'd live longer, so may have to spend it on a carer, stairlifts or other things anyway. Could actually end up costing me a fortune...

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Yes, it is a disaster for old people when their bowling deteriorates

As the saying goes - give up smoking and drinking. You won't live any longer but it'll feel like it.

Well, I drink a little.

I hope no one gets me wrong, people can do what they bloody well like. I was just putting forward what I'd learnt from people.

just a different take as the 'old as you feel' quote, but true never the less.

I was told that you are only as old as the woman you feel which is why I married someone 24 years younger than me.

Whoever said that, lied

I have no sense and no more 'Feeling' (Erotically) at my time of life.

My experience at the grand old age of 54,was a painful divorce, loss of 50% of hard earned assets to a wife who had never seriously worked in a lifetime.
19 years later, following the buying and selling of several buy to lets, have made myself financially comfortable and relevantly, kept my weight in check, regularly exercised, drink red wine moderately and eat very healthy.Fortunately, have never smoked.
An exercise bike is highly recommended although if no space for one,I can also recommend a brisk walk every day.
To summarise, there is light at the end of any tunnel and a positive attitude really helps!!

Isn't there a pill that can help with that Willo?
