I agree things are not good at the moment but I also think there is a great deal of over-reaction on this site. Yes we are all devoted Palace fans and we all want to see our team moving on and further consolidating our position in the Premier League, ideally in the top ten. I don't think there's any likelihood we'll be relegated this year, as there are far worse teams than us. We have 15 points and that's after having one of the worst injury records in the league. Yesterday was another example of the bad luck we've suffered this season with two injuries to key players within 5 minutes of each other and I don'agree with some that Hodgson is the problem. Things will get better and we will survive. However, I do agree that we need some serious investment in some replacements and reinforcements, particularly with both full backs and a striker, so I hope we will see some significant spending in January and/or the summer. COYP.

Given our recent results and perusing the fixtures in December I am far from optimistic about our prospects.

I have actually started to consider the possibility that we may well be lured into a relegation battle.

Doucoure and Lerma really aren’t bang average, this is a rather bizarre post imo

They're midfield players who seem to have little or no impact in the final third. I'd cede that some may argue that's not their game but these are Premier League footballers. They need to offer more and chip in with creating more chances and the odd goal IMO in the same way we'd like a bit more from our full backs.

That’s also my thoughts, we have lost to Luton and unconvincingly beat Burnley and earlier in the season Sheffield Utd. These are the 3 teams we think we are better then. Big question mark over that presently in my opinion. As for worries further up thread that if we employed Potter it will be the end for Olise and Eze. What does that matter if the money gained from them get’s Potter type players in that makes our squad good enough to compete further up the table? Also Andersen and Geuhi would bring in money to make our squad bigger and stronger? Not saying we should sell all of them but we need a stronger 11 and bench (as was shown yesterday and matches before that) to stay in the premiership. Not saying Potter is the way forward but Hodgson has done his job in replacing PV and making us stable again. Until recently that us?

A glance at the table says L L W L L - That's worse form than all the teams below us excepting Burnley. So what with the December fixtures, injuries and paper thin side, a flirtation with relegation seems a distinct possibility.

SP found two people who had no interest in spending this was from his own mouth go and find the video he was forced into it because he had very little wealth most of his money has been made at Palace.

SP is a small minded business man who has not moved Palace on because it's too large for him to do so he is national level not world level which is what you need.

Remember this is the same man who has built us a fancy stand o wait that still has started how many years has it been going on for now.

The other thing I dislike about him and this has come out from ex managers he is friends with players who do at times go direct to him that is not how you should run things these ex had even said they do not like this and other clubs do not do this it undermines managers.

1. Wrong. In fact he would be a lot wealthier had he not sold his stake in GAC.

2. What do you define as '' world level '' then ? Are the Brentford and Brighton owners that ??

Then your other comments ;

Look at the players Roy was forced to put in before because he had no other option and they put in performances Mitchell was one of them so was a right back we received 50m for from United remember him.

Riedewald as well when had a chance left back looked very good even won player of month straight away dumped.

I see you are another jumping on the negative Edouard bandwagon yet what is his return rate this season so far for goals 5 goals out of 12 appa how is that poor for a team which is not great at creating plus if you work it out based on current rate he would hit 14 goals come end of the season that is a good return.

Roy has one way of doing things this is the issue and why we always struggle against teams we should either be beating or drawing with.

1. I stand by what I said. Hodgson isn't being forced to play Richards at right back while Ward and Clyne are available. So you have to assume that he doesn't rate him in that position.

2. Riedewald - good technique but too one paced. I don't see him as worthy of a left back position.

3. I'm not jumping on any negative Edouard bandwagon given that my view of him hasn't changed in the last 18 months. Agreed his goal return this season looks impressive. When he doesn't score, he contributes virtually nothing. It's going back a bit, but you may remember a player called Ian Rush who scored goals for fun but was also described as Liverpool's first line of defence. Edouard was described as '' timid '' in a write in The Times and that sums him up.

4. We all know that Roy has his methods. Like them or not, they get the results he needs to achieve his objectives.

It is really depressing and cause for real concern. The 'Mood music' amongst many of our supporters can perhaps be filed under 'Pessimistic' and I fear that further vitriol and high-decibel fulmination will be aimed at both Mr Hodgson and Steve Parish.

Have you considered that they might be under instruction from the manager not to venture too far forward too often? Roy does love his defensive "shape".

Like Hrolf and Willo in their posts earlier this morning, I feel more deflated and fearful than for a very long time.

But Willo, the season doesn't just consist of Decemeber. Look on the bright side, it also consists of erm, erm, well, October and November.

I have a reputation on HOL of being a doomsayer and a glumbucket but even I was cautiously optimistic about our prospects this season.
Alas, recent results and impending fixtures have altered my thinking and I am filled with a sense of foreboding to the extent that my optimism is heading in the direction of 'Net Zero'.
I smell the heady ether of decay.

The biggest worry for me with the way this season is going is not relegation. It is the fact that all our star players will want to leave because of the lack of progress.

I am not one to slate Roy all the time but what in the name of god was he doing dropping Ayew yesterday and playing Schlupp. Ayew has been close to our best player this season. He did the same with Doucoure at Everton. He is making big decisions and they are wrong.

I figured it was for injuries or fitness. An issue I've always had is we seem to only ever have eleven (or less) decent players - as though they'll all play all 38 games.

I believe Ayew got back really late from the international break?

It would have been a good chance to rest Ayew if we had control of the game.
