This post sums it up for me. If you analyse our first 11 from a distance you would probably say, a strong central defensive four of Guehi, Andersen, Doucoure and Lerma but with defensive weakness down the channels.it is worrying that we are shipping so many goals with no apparent attempt to improve the areas of weakness.

In the attacking third we are not clinical enough, simple as that. Edouard is lazier than Benteke used to be and half heartedly chases down defenders who he knows he is not going to get within a couple of yards of.

With the injury to both Doucoure and Eze and no decent replacements, I reckon the next 7 game hectic month could be a torrid period for us. We somehow need to pick up at least 6-8 points from the following games which might look fairly straightforward on paper but given our Everton and Luton performances could see a lower return.

West Ham A
Bournemouth H
Liverpool H
Man City A
Brighton H
Chelsea A
Brentford H

The way we have played in the last 4 matches, I can only see zero points. Only possible chance is a worldly goal by us or keeping it to 0:0 and presently that’s not looking possible? Of course I’m being negative and we may get some points other than my prediction but that’s how I feel at the moment having watched those last 4 games and the way we are playing and lack of a quality 11 plus bench to put out :-(

We have to be realistic, the current squad has circa 6/7 who you could say are EPL quality. The balance for the starting 11 has to be picked from a bunch of players who are at best championship quality, younger player who have no experience in the lower league, or sick notes. If your core 6/7 get injured then your in even deeper brown stuff. Roy's hands are really limited because of poor transfer activity, Parish and his fellow directors are the problem they want to be in the EPL but they just do not want to spend the cash to do it and if the do spend, then, they make bad transfer decisions by signing players we don't need. This may well end badly!

i was critical of Palace's performance again Burnley as it was a classic non football one and many told me to stop criticising as we won. Well 2 games on and many of those people are now really moaning.

The 2 goals we conceded on Sat were a joke really, and i'm not sure some of our highly paid players are as good as they think they are.

The squad is so poor in so many positions that we are now in big trouble.

Apropos the winner, Mitchell got drawn in to a narrow position allowing a great deal of space on the flank.
The Luton player under no pressure crossed into that so called 'Area of uncertainty'.It would appear that Andersen expected Johnstone to run out and collect but he did not advance and Brown stole in to slot home from close range.Abject defending.

Hahaha. That is wishful thinking!!!

I read that Eze got an ankle injury. I hope to God that is the case and not too serious.
Doucoure however with his Achilles, terrible news.
Players are playing way too much these days, and long haul flights which do nothing for a super fit body are ruining so many players fitness.
Even at this level, you can't expect to do a 7 hour plus flight and then go and play for 90 minutes at the intensity of the Premier. Doucoure is a prime example.
Add to that the extra burden on our central players who I noticed barely pass anymore to our wing backs ( hardly surprising) and the knock on effect is constant flow of injuries.
Football should be having a close look at this problem.
In January its the Africa cup again..........

Johnstone should have been screaming ‘Keeper’ or ‘Clear’. Andersen as an experienced defender should know that in the absence of a call from the keeper, the ball goes out of play. As you rightly say, that was abject defending.

We will be only missing Ayew & Schlupp, for Ghana will go, if picked.

Good point actually, I'm struggling to name any more off the top of my head?

Looks like our options are very limited with the Roy setups and the players he picks. A braver manager would change the structure. How about three at the back Richards/ Holding, Guehi and Anderson; bring in Danny Imray to replace ward. Add Ebiowei,Ozoh and Tayo, give Franca a chance to start instead of Edouard?

Can't be any worse than the starting 11 and set up we have deployed...... does that show "desparation", because that's how I feel right now!
