16,000 reservists called up yesterday. That's 80,000 troops ready or already engaged now. For a small strip of land where half the population are children.

This is going to get much worse for the Gazans before it gets better.

So do you now agree Stirling, that Israel was in some way responsible for the rise of Hamas in Palestine? something you previously denied.

I don't know how I can make it any clearer.

All alone I stated that Israel help create an organization that eventually became what we call Hamas.

You linked to a page that stated that Israel deliberately created an enemy to fight with. Israel didn't create the 'Hamas' we see today whatsoever.

I regard any suggestion along those lines as deliberate misinformation.

Before I posted that link I also intimated that they deliberately set up Hamas for their own ends, you denied this.
Yet you agree with legaleagle who said pretty much the same thing.

I'm not sure I totally support that part of legal's post. I'm unsure to what extent them helping the set up of religious charities can really be related to 'rival organizations' for discord.

It's possible....I'm more supportative of legal's balanced and far more objective language.

Your posts are usually a million miles from that and my main attack is upon your suggestion that Israel knowingly created an enemy.....You believe that crap because you linked to it.

This is interesting, from 2009,re Israel's links with HAMAS or itsanecedents early on, from the perspective of some Israelis. I wasn't trying to suggest Israel created or set up HAMAS.> Rather, that it had tried to use it at certain points, and encouraged its expansion and popularity, when it had suited its strategy.

How often do countries shoot themselves in the foot so to speak when utilising certain factions for their own ends? Shows the perils of that old adage, my enemy's enemy is my friend.

The Times had a picture of Eastbourne pier burning down rather than Gaza burning this morning.

Crazy how this is being largely swept under the carpet by most mainstream media channels.

Totally agree.
The Sun ran with a front page about some teenager with lop-sided tlts.
The Gaza Holocaust was a paragraph around page 13

I'm surprised the Sun didn't ask for Dana International's perspective.

These are 'national' newspapers.

Their largest market is broadly the English people who broadly are conservative and insular in nature. The average voting patterns show that over the years.

The attitudes towards this conflict.....while not exclusively a left-right thing.....do seem to generally fall more anti Israeli the more left wing the person is.

Any international story is only going to hold traction for a limited time period.

National papers aren't there to parrot back your view of the world.....They sell fodder to what they believe is their 'market'.

I wouldn't say anti Israeli, more anti people virtually imprisoned in a small stretch of land having the s*** bombed out of them.

A lot depends upon the language used....However, I'm not really referring so much to the stance taken but rather people's expectations upon the amount of coverage.

You know we could also be cynical about people's capacity to 'follow the ball'. There are plenty of people dying still in Syria....But that's not the favour of the month is it.

The military police have launched an investigation, which has resulted in charges against the unit commander.

This happens in the IDF.

As has been typed up before. There are plenty of 'nutters' in the IDF from the religious right and settlement regions who.....Well shouldn't be serving....But I imagine they are the most eager to join up.

I hope they thrown the book at him.
