I am not sure we are hitting the self destruct button but more likely that the owners have all but accepted we are going to get relegated and are and have planned for us to be a financially stable championship team. In our current position and with our financial history I think they are too risk adverse and need to seize the great opportunity we have of real financial stability and stay in the PL

If this is the case they shouldn't have lied to Pulis just to get him to sign on the dotted line. Pulis has done a fantastic job since joining and now is the time for the owners to back him.

I am not sure they lied to him. I believe there is a transfer fund that is probably the same amount promised him before he accepted. I do believe there will be players in before the window, however perhaps the structure of how transfer dealings would be done may have been misleading. I agree that under KM previously and now TP the squad looks completely different and more capable. We need some quality And strength in depth and I think our business should have been done earlier in order for any new arrival to settle in. Just my thoughts

What is all this bo****ks about panic buying and "we must buy" ?
TP has got a team that had 3pts from 10 games to accrue 17pts from 12 games witout signing anyone. With 16 games to go if we carry on the ratio of pts to games that TP has managed so far we could acheive another 22/23 pts add that to the 20pts we already have and that makes us safe.
We are not the team dropping like a stone we are pretty much the form team at the bottom along with Sunderland (who hopefully will have one eye on a wembley final).

Cardiff (crisis club) City have bought in 3 UNKNOWN Norwegians plus another 3 who cant get a game at their present clubs in
Zaha (would you really want to fight a war with him in your side)
Fabio (could hardly command a place in a relegated QPR side last season)
Kenwyne Jones (well he's prolific, not!)

Norwich, Jonas Gutierrez on loan
Villa, Grant Holt on loan
Hull, Shane Long 1 in 4 and Nikica Jelavic 1 in 3(a lot of money for not too many goals)
West Ham 2 Italian loans ????

Fulham, Sunderland, West Brom, Swansea and ourselves have not done any deals yet.

So realistically the only team that have spent around us is Hull with an owner who wont have to worry about paying wages if he don't get his own way and throws his rattle out of the pram.

So keep the faith and keep our club away from administration again

Heard a recording of Brian Clough on the radio earlier saying he didn't agree with wasting time over transfers that drag on and on. A player either wanted to play for him or not. Guess it was a different era back then before agents, transfer windows and player power but it was a refreshingly straight forward viewpoint.

We are premier league paupers at the moment. We have to accept that chances are if another club comes in for a player we're interested in, they will have deeper pockets, pay bigger salaries and get the player. Spitting dummies about being gazumped is a waste of energy. I imagine Moody is working on sourcing talent from overseas no ones thought of. He's in fresh territory with a smaller wallet to go shopping with as well so I wish people would put down their burning torches and criticise him after the window closes. I'm happy to trust them to do what they think is right to make sure we continue to have a club to support.

Just look at QPR last season, spent a fortune and got relegated

Qpr only had one win and 10 points at the beginning of the transfer window , we are (were) in a much better position , surely worth a punt on someone , even on loan (BA??).

Sure the odds are more stacked in our favour and we should, and I believe will, add to the squad. But we've used our loans up. If we hadn't Parish would probably agree to paying £40k for 2 or 3 players for 5 months, it'd be a wise choice. But we are looking at players that want 3-4 year deals and aren't keen on relegation clauses when they're already on deals without them.

A well thought out and reasoned response. Thanks for coming

Stop talking crap then.

Sorry I didn't realise I was talking to Steve Parish. Crap you say perhaps you'll care to give a reasoned explanation! As you are probably aware businesses run to a plan. If at the start of the season and after the fiasco that was the summer transfer window and some behind the scenes activity with IH and our opening 10 games results why is it crap that the owners plans were to structure the club with relegation in mind? Don't get me wrong I think this a prudent thing to do but that plan needs flexibility especially if certain promises were made to TP and our current league position. I look forward to your thoughtful opinion.

I hate these threads they are based on nothingness by media speculation. I guarantee by February 1st we will have new signings. People look into things to much.

And Steve Browett said on the BBS that is no truth to the Mirror's headline of bunkum and bollocks.

Oh that's a relief then!

You make some good points but we do need to get CB cover and some firepower in before the window shuts. We need it, the others need it, and will do it. We also have to play about 4 of those away from home where we'll need to score to get results (draws or half wins, half losses). To do that we may need to score 2, or grab something from being 1-0 down.

Be realistic with wages and the current squad's ability, by adding wisely to it to get the results needed.

Managers and club owners are very different animals. Managers would more than happily spend every penny of an owner's money and more. Why worry about a club's finances when even if you are absolute pony and get sacked you get your contract paid up.

Owners will be (usually) be more cautious. We've had chairmen like Goldberg and Jordan who made a lot of money very quickly and fairly recklessly and they took that policy into running the club. Both times we went bust.

The new owners either can't or won't do that (don't care which it's their money!) But managers may not like that. If they don't then maybe it's best they go. Yes there is a bit of me that says you need to speculate to accumulate but equally I could not bear to see the club in trouble again

But inflating all that we now have Mr Moody and you've got to wonder how he is earning his corn right now.

Ahhh who cares anymore? If Palace get relegated I go back to be a Manchester United supporter or maybe Manchester City , I like the colour of the Chelsea shirt, my favourite! Might support them as well?

"the owners have all but accepted we are going to get relegated"

This is the part i was talking about when i said you were talking rubbish. We're 16th now & have a good chance to pick up more points on Tuesday vs Hull. Why would the owners have accepted we are going to be relegated?
