One off Oldhams main sponsors have just ended their association with the club and two more are to follow.

it's rare that a player like Evans will be jeered by both sets off Fans week in and week out.

It will be interesting to see what happens if he scores a goal. Will the fans sit in silence? What if it's not obvious whether it was him or someone else that touched the ball? Sit in silence and wait confirmation it was the other guy before cheering? Or will they just treat him normally? I can imagine a strange atmosphere at first.

I'd be surprised if there's anything particularly unusual about it - they keep talking about these petitions being signed by thousands of fans of {insert club here} when clearly they haven't - it's anyone who objects to him playing full stop (many of which would be completely uninterested in football).

I'd imagine his first goal will be celebrated uproariously, as normal, and I'd not be at all surprised if he gets a decent reception when he runs out for his first home game (from the home fans, at least - the away section will give him Hell)

Probably true actually. I always hoped Ronaldo would get some stick when he came back from the World Cup after he got Rooney sent off but the Man U fans continued to worship him as normal.

Incidentally, I read somewhere the lady was 2.5 times the drink driving limit (by estimation). Sadly I can't remember where I read it so I can't cite it directly, but it would almost certainly have been either here or on the BBC. If that's the case, that doesn't seem in the levels of incapacity to me - I'd see that as probably about 4-5 pints - I'd say p*ssed, but certainly not incapable.

Could all be sh*t, of course, depending on
a) where I read it
b) who it was quoting
c) whether it's accurate

Please ignore if I've got the facts wrong

Seem to remember reading that somewhere also and thought the same. Sure it was reported in official documents seen by the media. Although officially guilty of the crime and without doubt a t*** of the highest order with that dispicable spoilt cun' mindset to take what is in front of him without question, it's far from a convincing conviction having read a lot of the evidence and court proceedings.

Ched Evans served 2 and a half years for rape,he's victim will have to live with the rape for ever.

so for her it's a life sentence, probably still having nightmares, should he sign for Oldham attendances will drop and sponsors will no longer sponsor the latics.

Sad day for football if this piece off sh!t is allowed to continue playing football.

Is he a piece of sh*t if he is actually innocent or has a favourable case review though???

The problem with rape cases such as this is you have one drunk party claiming consensual sex and one drunken party claiming rape - physical evidence is very thin on the ground so its essentially down to a group of 12 member of the general public picking their favourite of two stories.

Still a piece of sh*t given he obtain a key card to get into a room where his friend was having sex with a girl so that he could have sex with her.

Doesn't make him a rapist though.

The guilty verdict does. There was enough evidence to convict him of rape and he has had an appeal rejected.

He is a convicted rapist. Not really sure what you're struggling with here.

I am not 'struggling' with anything thanks but the condescension is most welcome.

So everyone who has been through a British court and found guilty is guilty are they ?

Im still not really sure why drunkerly raping somebody is so much worse than drunkernly killing 2 children ala Luke McCormick.

EDIT:- I guess it is partly to do with accepting responsibility and showing remorse, after I've thought about it a little more.

Evans can't show remorse yet as he is trying to get the case overturned.

Once that decision has been made maybe he will make some statement. That said he is a bit of a t*** so I wouldn't hold my breath

If someone is convicted of rape you have to assume that he is a rapist otherwise our criminal justice system will always be completely undermined.

Indeed, but I think that is the main reason people are showing objection to him playing again. They are only seeing:-

1) Footballer convicted of rape
2) Footballer has not shown any remorse

EDIT:- I mean that if he had come out straight away, and shown remorse (and wasn't appealing his conviction) people would probably be more sympathetic to him playing again.

Yes. Until proved otherwise.

Or would you still have Rolf Harris presenting kids TV shows because he 'might' be innocent?

Indeed. It's catch 22 for him, he can't pretend to be contrite at the same time as pleading his innocence however had he shown remorse he would probably be signed up by Sheffield United by now.

He has every right to want to play football again but football clubs have every right to say that they don't want to employ a convicted rapist and the fans and sponsors of Oldham have every right to vote with their feet.
