A lot of the stories on here, remind me of the 'Battle Inn' on the Oxford road. The only pub I've ever seen with window protection grilles on the inside and outside of the windows.

Lovely place, Irish Traveller Pro-IRA pub. The police would regular just pull up in the carpark with a van of coppers, from about 6pm most nights - Cost effective policing, as almost all the nutbar pub psychos in the area drank there.

Im sorry, how did we get from arsehole pikeys to Gay cakes, and all with the famous twister of words Mr Cheval Blanc no where to be seen.

Bur for the record, why should someone be forced to make a gay cake if their religion opposes battyness. Would a muslim be forced to eat a bacon sandwhich ? No they wouldnt! So whats the difference ?

Back on point.....

Pikeys in general are utter shysters of the highest order , My old man (god rest his sole) ran and managed pubs most of his adult life. I've seen what these piss taking c***s can do to a good boozer.

The law is an ass.

Despite Jamie's convoluted explanations of this injustice; Ashers Bakery, gay rights activist Gareth Lee,the Equality Commisssion, Judge Isobel Brownlie, and everyone on HOL - including Jamie, know that the 'judgement' is merely a politically correct pandering to supposed rights of fashionable minorities to override the rights of unfashionable minorities.

Judge Brownlie has form on this - she awarded £5,000 damages to four members of the 'travelling community' when a pub landlord in Newry refused to serve them.

She also threw out the case of a former British army secret agent inside the IRA, who claimed the publication of a photograph of him had endangered his life.

Businesses aren't individuals, and as such do not enjoy rights as people. This isn't America.

Bullsh1t and you know it. Do we not live in a free society where hundreds of thousands of people died for freedom of speach ? all this PC crap and people being forced to change their views, even religious beliefs by law, is utterly utterly wrong.

What next straight blokes have to get bummed just so they can see it from a gay perspective and understand the struggle of gay men ? If I had a cake shop and someone asked me to make an Sein Fein (IRA) cake, I'd tell them to f*** right off out of it same goes for the proddy nutters the UVF, and anyone else I didn’t like its called freedom of choice which is being eroded by the PC Nazis in local government.

I am literally sick of people being made to cow tow to anyone who feels part of a minority; the tail is wagging the dog and no mistake.

Point proven today in parliament, the current lying bastad in the hot seat, says he will pass a bill that foreign workers who have no right to be here will have their money/wages taken from them. You should have heard the supercilious w***ers on the radio phone in, all clamouring to be more right on and PC than the next man.

Someone needs to get a grip of this “cant say boo! to a goose” attitude it is a breeding ground for the weak minded, the soft, and the mentally challenged.

Surely the time has come for designated gay towns where gay people can 'marry', 'have' children, put silly slogans on cakes etc - and they could like refuse to give hetrosexuals a room, or censor their cake inscriptions and generally poke fun at them.

Just picking a town at random to try this out - how about Brighton?

You not forced to change your views, you are however required to adhere to laws governing the provision of paid services and goods, which stipulate you cannot discriminate or refuse people on the basis of their sexual orientation.

Just like you can't refuse to sell or provided services to people because their black, female or Christian.

And you'd be fine. You don't have to accept someone's business, what you can't do is break a contract with someone because you change your mind later. Its perfectly legal and ok to say 'I'm sorry, we don't do political messages'.

Once you enter a contract, you can only terminate it through fulfillment of agreed clauses. Your political beliefs or personal belief or religious beliefs are not grounds for breaking a contract.

If you're then stupid enough to say its 'because you don't support gay marriage' in the press and ally yourself with causes that have notorious been against any gay rights, you shouldn't be surprised that goes against you in court.

They're not though are they, they're being made to comply with the law, that essentially states you cannot discriminate against UK citizens in business and forced to abide by Contract law.

Doesn't seem unreasonable to me. Since when did having religion translate as the right to discriminate against people buying or ordering cakes? Is that in the bible?

No, its another bunch in society who get their knickers in a twist and hysterical when something doesn't go their way, and cry about how oppressed they are by having to abide by the same rules and laws as everyone else.

I'm radical, I'd deport them and then fine the people who employed them five times the annual salary of the employee for each year they'd worked there. I can't answer for the kind of people who phone in on radio shows.

Then again, I'd also implement work programs and mandatory language courses for successful asylum applicants, before they transitioned to being citizens.

In my experience they tend to be pricks, wind up merchants and people who watch daytime tv.

I think its generally called expecting people to be somewhat considerate of other people. Not sure that breaking contract law and discriminating against someone on the grounds of their sexual orientation is actually the same as saying 'boo to a goose'.

I mean what's the world coming to when businesses are required not to discriminate against their customers and treat UK citizens as UK citizens.

Or we could just be reasonable human beings and get along, follow the law, and maybe take more interest in what we do, rather than object to what other people choose to do.

It is the gay rights activist and the judge in Northern Ireland who are being unreasonable.

I fail to see the difference between having " to follow the law" and being forced to do things against your moral compass or religion, as I stated before no one would force a Muslim or a Jew to eat Pork, so why should a devot Christian be made to make a cake that goes against his religious teachings.

Whether you agree with the religious aspect of it Jamie is immaterial. The fact remains The Bible doesn't speak of homosexuality very often; but when it does, it condemns it as sin. Let's take a look. Lev. 20:13, "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death.

So again whether you agree with it or not is not the question I'm asking, I'm asking why is it different to shops having to comply with Muslim and Jewish Laws on how meat is slaughtered ?

Essentially the Koran says eating pork is wrong.

The bible says (or strongly hints at) god disapproving of homosexuality, and yet when a follower of Christianity put his foot down, he gets legally and no doubt financially penalised.

what’s the difference, one set of laws is upheld the other classed as being discriminatory.

Hopefully you see my point.

As to the tail wagging the dog, how’s this then. I was in the queue at MacDonald’s in Croydon, a young black girl was in front saying she was going to get loads of free food and “to watch and learn the white boys fear” immediately as she got to the front of the queue, she screamed out “you f***in racist give me my food just because I’m black you went to serve the whitebread women first,” que some poor sod getting a pasting of his manager and girl walking off with a free meal, while all the other laughed at her.

That IS tail wagging the dog, I said to the manager after the bloke who served her said nothing of the sort, …his reply ….it’s just not worth the hassle.

Do you see what I mean, positive discrimination is just as bad mate and is now IMO bordering on the farcical.

But where's the fun in that when we can use outlier examples to suggest that whole groups of people should consider living apart from everyone else? .

Historically Mormonism has had issues with black people. Would people here be jumping to someones defense if they refused to serve a black person because it was 'against their beliefs'? If you think it's fine to go back to 'No Blacks' signs in hotel windows and the like then by all means have a problem with this too. If you don't then accept that businesses are there to provide services to the whole community.

Of course we are not discussing 'No Blacks' signs. We are discussing Christians having to go against their beliefs to pander to a view of a minority (to have same sex marriage) in a province where the authorities there have repeatedly voted against such arrangements.
