I agree. It is a disgrace that we are forced to pay for their propaganda. How far would they get if they had to rely on subscriptions from those they support - like the Muslim Council of Britain, or Greens/SNP/TUSC, or Kid's Company. I expect some of the millionaire 'artists' like Grayson, Hirst and Gilbert & George would bung in a few bob, after all the BBC does try to compare them with Rembrandt.

The difference is that the BBC has become the go to place for news thanks to the license fee that is mandatorily paid for by ALL of society, rather than the Telegraph which is paid for by its readership, i.e. by choice.
The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money. |

The right think the Beeb are a bunch of Commies The left think the Beeb are a bunch of fascists There are times I think individual pieces carry a fair bit of bias (on other subjects as well as political)but overall they are pretty well balanced.

No means of communication about politics can be unbiased, the very nature of communication and language propergate individual bias and influence.

I generally mean liberal in the older sense, than the Liberal Democrat sense. Which I'd probably also call 'middle of the road' politically. The BBC is very open to Personal Politics, the risqué and controversial in a way that ITV isn't, and Channel 4 no longer seems to have a taste for doing well. Of course its hard to be much more establishment than BBC Radio 4 (easily the finest thing on the airwaves).
