This post has been merged from a topic called 'var' by becky If ever I needed convincing that it is not my own personal bias but that VAR and its refs actually do favour the big teams, it has to be the Everton 0 Man City 1 match. It was a clear handball in so many ways, even deliberate, and some effing how they failed to award a penalty! After the myriad of the flimsiest questionable alleged handballs they gave FOR the big teams (such as Benteke's some time age when it hit his back shoulder FFS!). I am neither a Man City nor an Everton fan and was watching the game out of sheer boredom. VAR is worse than a waste of time as it gives the top six teams a HUGE advantage.

One day you may agree that refs get it wrong. This was a very poor decision and when viewed from different angles showed definitely handball.

With respect I have consistently stated that referees are only human and err from time to time. But this isn’t really about the match referee - it’s about the VAR ref who didn’t have to make a decision in real time, had the benefit of slow motion and several angles and still got it wrong.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'var' by becky The league cup final today had 4 disallowed goals. Ended 0-0 then had 22 penalties, 21 of which were almost unstoppable. The modern game needs to take a close look at all this. My fear is the game is becoming too tight.
