I would not assert that 'Question Time' can currently be filed under "Excreta" but I much preferred the programme in halcyon days when the likes of Robin Day and David Dimbleby were the presenters.

This is not a criticism of Fiona Bruce just the fact that the panellists of yesteryear did not include so called 'Alternative' comedians and 'Personalities' whose contributions do not add value to the programme.

AKA friends of the BBC.

I read an article a few months ago about how the BBC are grooming Hamza Yassin as their new personality, this was before he won Strictly which was a lucky coincidence for the beeb.

Robin Day was the king of that programme.....Dimbleby, not as good but acceptable perhaps, coming from that talented family....But that T-Rex bint doing it now took it downhill on skis.

There was an episode whereby Robin Day pointed to a man in the audience who wanted to speak.I believe he said "That gentleman with the charming moustache" and the gentleman assuming it was a compliment replied words to the effect "That's very kind of you"
Robin Day with a deadpan expression retorted "Identification not flattery".

Fiona Bruce should be criticised, the program should be fronted by a proper journalist, not a presenter.

The excreta part is having panellists who are sports people or entertainers. FFS, Joey Barton, Gary Neville and Charlotte Church to name but a few.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

The TV News.

Too much of it.

There is only so much news to report on at any one time, but with so much airtime now given to it, you end up with every event being analysed to death, and an increasing amount of speculation as opposed to fact.

Also, the script given to newsreaders now has had an increasing amount adjectives added to the text, telling us how we should feel about news events.

Once upon a time TV made documentaries about subjects using interesting people e.g. somebody who lives on a canal boat or is a steeplejack or a midwife the point being that they were not a celebrity but they knew their subject and could present it in any interesting way.

Today TV seems unable to make any form of documentary without including some Z list celebrity who has no knowledge or expertise e.g. Celebs go caravanning or hiking or my pet hate does a travel show not like Michael Palin but something like "Benidorm Uncovered" which is just an excuse for a cheap holiday.
