It costs a fortune to put this back slapping festival on as many have to be put up in hotels, travel cost etc.

Ironically the BBC's commitment to live sport each year gets less and less.

Probably not in which case why do they spend a fortune on promoting sport that is on other channels? This is a left over from when most sport was on the BBC.

The test cricket used to be on the BBC but it always had to play second fiddle to horse racing and it was a relief to all cricket fans when they lost the rights to cricket to Channel 4 who subsequently lost it to the much deeper pockets of Sky.

They do have certain rights to the dreadful Hundred and end up covering the same matches that Sky are covering. I always watch on Sky as i can't abide that awful Phil Tufnell who has made a lucrative career out of being stupid
