Holding is not quick and can be bullied by aggressive forwards.
He’s been purchased, in my view, because he was available at a reasonable price and can be viewed as a replacement for Tomkins.
Richards has good recovery pace, is aggressive and decent in the air.
The main question mark against him is his tendency to pick up injuries.
I would like to find him a place in the team, but he’s not going to displace the Guehi/Anderson partnership.
The easy solution would be to try him at right back, but it’s a specialist position and I’m not sure he has the positional awareness and experience to play that role.
In his sub appearances at full back he has not looked comfortable with a tendency to come infield as a natural central defender.
Presumably he could be coached to play full back and there has been a small trend in playing centre backs at full back (e.g White, Ake, Akanji).

I agree. I like Richards. He will have a good future.
The big question is Roy. We badly need him to manage the game.
I bet we would have beaten Villa with our Roy on the line.

Some idle thoughts re sell on clauses.
Why not try and negotiate say 25% over and above the original sale price ie only on the profit element. It always seems the percentage applies to the whole price, which arguably is inequitable.
If Chelsea match say £60m are they entitled to pay only £45m, assuming for the moment there is a 25% clause as well.

Just to put a stopper in click bait mouth, I would fancy Guehi to be north of £100m by the euros.
If he isn't a regular in the England XI then Southgate should be gone. (He should be gone anyway)
Based on that and assuming we end up top half and he keeps performing then yes £100m all day long.

Bet Guehi is glad he's not playing coz of Southgate's masterful management 0-1

They wouldn’t have scored that goal if he was playing, stones dropped off I think

Currently only outfield player from the squad not to get on the pitch in either of the two games

Until now, wasn’t expecting him to come on to be honest, just got to avoid injury for half an hour now

Great goal Harry Kane but that all came from Guehi controlling the wildest pass from Pickford!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

His value goes up £5m every time he plays for England. Looks like he's going to be the number 1 centre back transfer battle next summer.

If Guehi's season carries on as it has, and Maguire can't get back in the England team, it's hard to see how Guehi doesn't start at the Euros alongside Stones.
