Quotes

Roy Hodgson

"The match at Elland Road will be a big test for us. They haven't started the season well but that will probably make things even harder.

"There will be 25-30,000 passionate fans in there demanding a performance from their team. We'll have to be at our best that's for sure.

"But one thing I think we've proved already this season is that we are no longer a push over for anyone. We are competing well in this division now and are more than a match for even the best sides on our day."

Simon Grayson

"Dougie has Palace well organised and they know what they’re doing. They’re building off what they did at the back end of last season.

"I spoke to another manager earlier in the week and he was saying that you’ll find no easy games in this division. Palace obviously aren’t an easy touch and they’ve got players who can win matches. But we’ve got players who can hurt them too.

"The results haven’t gone for us and neither have a few decisions. But as a manager you look at how your players are performing and I’m really pleased in that respect.

"The league table doesn’t lie because these are the points we’ve got, but anyone who’s watched all of our games would say circumstances have been dictated by other people and certain refereeing decisions.

"But we’re not just sitting here waiting for our luck to change. If we do 90 per cent of what we’ve done for the past month, then we’ll start getting results regularly. Ultimately, as a manager you’re judged on results and I’d take winning tomorrow by playing poorly. Winning is what the game’s all about and I know what we need to be doing."

Owen Garvan

"We've only played a few matches so it's hard to tell where we are yet. We are pleased to have the points on the board but we've probably had a bit of luck too.

"I was very impressed with Blackpool, I thought they looked a very good team and competing with the likes of them and West Ham is going to be tough.

"There's loads of work to do for the team to do but I think we can get better and better.

"Quite a few people didn't fancy our chances at the start of the season but we're doing well so far and hopefully we are beginning to prove those doubters wrong.

"You've seen it so many times in this division before that the teams who haven't got big players and the household names have done well and can end up getting promotion. Just look at Blackpool. They've shown it can be done.

"So why not? You've got to set your sights as high as possible. We're a confident group and we believe in ourselves."
