Palace v Swansea City

Selhurst Park, Saturday 3.00pm

Team news

Palace midfielder Darren Ambrose could be in line for an early return from injury - a badly bruised bone just below his knee. Ambrose has been out since August but came through a midweek reserve team match with West Ham unscathed.

Full-back David Wright is now fully fit and is in contention for a starting role. Sean Scannell suffered a minor setback to his knee injury and is still out.

CLAUDE DAVIS serves the third match of his four-game suspension, with Neil Danns (knee) and Lee Hills (knee) also missing.

Swansea skipper Gary Monk is suspended for Saturday's encounter. Kemy Agestien and Albert Serran are rated doubtful, but forwards Gorka Pintado and ex-Palace loanee Craig Beattie could make it.

Quotes

Roy Hodgson

"Despite the end result there were positives to take from the performance at Deepdale [vs Preston]. We showed great character to almost salvage something from the game, it was the second time in a week that we'd gone a goal down away from home but the heads didn't drop. That's pleasing.

"We also finally seem to have solved our problems in front of goal. That's five goals in two games and we have to take that forward into the Swansea match.

"David Wright is now back to 100 percent fitness and comes into my thoughts for tomorrow's game.

"But the big surprise is that Darren Ambrose may also be ready. He played 20 minutes in a reserve match on Wednesday and came through it well.

"We didn't expect to have him back until Middlesbrough but I know how keen he is to get going and we have badly missed his quality in the final third.

"Even in his brief run out for the reserves he showed what he brings to any team - an end product. Balls were pinging into the box and shots were flying on target.

"If we can get him back it will be a big boost for what promises to be another tough match against a team near the top of the division."

Brendan Rodgers

"George (Burley) has gone into a situation which has been difficult off the field in the last couple of season, but they have some really good players.

"As we all know, teams at the bottom of this league can beat teams at the top, so we have to go out with the same mental focus and drive we always have.

"James Vaughan is a player we looked into bringing here. I spoke to David Moyes about him, but it was difficult to get him here because of finances and what-not.

"The money for this season has always been tight, and we just have to make sure that what we do spend goes on the right type of player."
