That we beat Borough away in the final game of our glorious season where we won the Championship at a canter.

This was a great day out. I remember it well.

Memories...

I think this was the penultimate game and we followed the win at Middlesbrough with a home defeat against Watford but I could be wrong ! I am in my 60s and it was a long time ago !!!!

It was the penultimate game, I went and they played we are the champions on the pa system after the game for the palace.

Last game was against Watford, lost 2 nil and think that was last game of standing in the holmesdale

Looks like I was right !

That season I went to the 'Away' game at Luton when we won 1-0 with an early goal from I think Chris Coleman.Remember getting out of the car and smelling the aroma of curry ! Also recall walking up the steps to the stand behind the goal and almost being able to touch the windows of the terraced houses behind it !!!!

I was at that game at Luton too. We scored within the first minute or two and about the only other thing I remember was Eric the Ninja going on a run from his own box deep into Luton's half. Just kept going and going, I thought he was going to walk it into the net but when he got near their box he didn't know what to do any more and meekly gave the ball away IIRC!

I was at that game at Luton too.

And I recall that there were no pubs in the vicinity of the ground and we had to walk quite a way to find one.

I might be wrong but I think the Luton manager at the time was David Pleat.

Had corporate entertainment and the missus and I were given a bottle of Middlesborough red. We had Malcolm Allison sign it. Opened it when we had our first child, tasted awful. Great response from the crowd at Ayresome that day.

Was def "the last stand" - was there great day even if we did loose to Watford. League already won - no pressure. (Twenty years later similar situation. )

Yep. I wasn't at the Boro game but I remember that last match against Watford. We'd won the league easily and I was in the Arthur instead of where I usually stood on the Holmesdale. Felt strange to look at it and all the people on it and think of all the times I'd stood there in the rain and snow watching Palace struggle through.

I miss the old terrace

Me too.Spent many years (and pounds) standing there in all weathers. Must admit, stood at Whitehorse pre Sainsbury days and for those as old as me..stood on the terraces where the Arthur now is..remember watching CP beat Forest in the cup and then lose to Leeds (3-0) in quarter final.
