They seem to conform to barking out stereotypes of them being lazy trouble makers. Sterling has seen much worse than Zaha, but it's not that dissimilar. The stories about Wilf never seem to correspond with what our managers have said and he always comes across as well mannered and caring. Is he a bit arrogant? Of course, but then who wouldn't be with his talent. The other thing is the media seem stuck in the past with the image of a Zaha that is wasteful and inconsistent. How often nowadays do we have a game where he has no impact? They are the exception, unlike maybe three or four years ago. Garth Crooks seems to have him in his team of the week almost every week (although I'm not convinced he actually watches the games).

I don't buy into the Rascist card for STerling and certainly don't want Wilf dragged into that. Interesting thing was TFM totally owned Sane I think Wilf was thrown into the advertising hoardings while off balance on one leg in that 2nd half about 18 yards from the corner flag. That cheating cvnt Walker was allowed to, by the cvnt ref, get away with his sh1t defending because without it he would’ve been beaten and everyone knew it. It was worse than Bournemouth and Huddersfield. The recent discussions on this match are embarrassing.

Racism exists in our society so we can never be sure that this does not pervade media comments. However there is a danger that any criticism of a black player will be perceived as racist rather than his performance on pitch. Sterling's performances for England in World Cup were perceived as not good by the public and he did not show the talent he unbdoutably has. His tattoo of a gun was jumped upon by the media and the same papers that were critical have mentioned his new tattoo in more favorable terms. Is this criticism racist? A lot has been said about Wilf and his Man U experience. It is quite clear that he did not impress and that may be for a variety of reasons. United have had a number of sucessful black players over the years. There were comments attributed to senior players about his attitude etc. The Wilf that returned was short of confidence and The most common criticsm (from Ian Wright if I remember) was lack of end product and consistency. I think these were factors in why he lost his England Place. I don't remember him impressing on his 2 England caps. He has developed greatly over the last few years. He has developed consistency and end product together with a more mature attitude. He is now is probably one of the best if not the best player to wear a Palace shirt. I certainly think he is a loss to England and I do think Gareth Southgate tried to change his mind
