Some reasons for vaccine hesitancy other than selfishness.

I have also patiently explained to you in posts gone by that our decisions to get on not get the vaccine affects only ourselves. To force someone who hase already made an informed decision about their own health to do the opposite is very selfish.

You are just repeating a fallacy. No one is, or was, trying to force you.

They are pointing out that the consequences of the decision did not just impact you alone. Something you appear to be in total denial over.

Which if you read my post, are acknowledged. The same points are made in the article about reassurance reducing the numbers who remain hesitant for such reasons.

My comments are not directed at such people. If they need reassurance then I hope I have tried to provide it. The medical experts certainly did. My comments are directed at those who take up positions based on clearly established misinformation.

Unless anyone needed medical treatment it did affect them alone.

So you're commenting on a miniscule number of people who wouldn't have overwhelmed the NHS anyway.

No. If that's what I was suggesting then that's what I would have said. It isn't an assumption that everyone's life was put on hold and jobs were lost when most were at very little risk and now you're criticising those who don't fit in with your idea that everyone should be vaccinated. That is the definition of selfishness.

We had no idea when these decisions were taken about the level of risk involved. We were in entirely new territory with horrendous worst-case scenarios being postulated. Sure some clever dicks were claiming it was no worse than the flu, etc, etc and with the benefit of the restrictions, and then the vaccines, the outcome has been no worse than the flu, but we neither knew that at the time nor do we know what would have happened if we had taken another strategy.

Where have I suggested everyone should be vaccinated? I have said those that who refused for no good reason should have been identified and felt the consequences of taking a selfish decision. Other, more responsible, people also have rights.

And according to Fact Check

The latest data from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) suggests that the proportion of unvaccinated Covid-19 cases being admitted after presenting to emergency care within 28 days of a positive test in England is now about 35%.

That is now. I am talking of then.

If only 7% remain unvaccinated yet are 35% of those taking up beds the 5 times impact speaks for itself.

What sanctions do you suggest? House arrest? A bullet in the back of the head?

Obviously.

As sufficient did to produce the effect on the NHS that it did, what's the point of referring to those who got lucky?

So does the fact it was a few hundred people. Hardly a tidal wave of hospital engulfing proportions.

What's the point of calling them selfish when their action didn't affect anyone else?

Umm yes they did. It was called coercion.
