People on Hol whom remember these times 60,70,80's
are true Palace fans, I will always respect and admire them coz they've been there with me thro thick and thin.I used to always buy both peanuts and at least two burgers from that lady, she used to pile on the onions for me, so yummy back then.
Who remembers the bell ringer in the mainstand?
Who rememebers the St Beranard dog at ther back of the Holmesdale? Who recalls going for a pee behind the toliet block coz the toilets were always so packed? It was right at the bottom of the stairs at the back of the Holmesdale(that was a long climb)
I used to love milling around at the top of the stairs by the main hol gate before game and during half time,
Used to feel so hard and proud to be there in my obb nails!I even used to go to sit in the Holmesdale when Selhurst was empty and reminisce, during closed season I was there almost every week!! Sad eh?
but those were the days of Silk scarves hanging from my wrists etc.Cant beat it.
I guess we can all say we Love Palace

I remember the cry: "Roasted peanuts, ten pence a bag!"

My first memory was sixpence (in old money) Seth!

Yeah ...sixpence a paper bag of unshelled peanuts, big dewdrop hanging precariously off the end of her nose, headscarf and dirty ol mac tied on to her with the belt. Happy days! Remember the girl photographer too?

Hy Money?
Oh yes!

Where's my fedora?

Yes, thanks for reminding me ...she did a book 'Hy on Palace'

It was better behind the toilets as you didn't get your jeans/trousers wet and it didn't stink so much.
Used to change ends at half time to go the way Palace were kicking.Trouble was I use to slip down that muddy bank and get in a right state.

Use to go to watch the reserves play when the first team were away and get their half and full time score from the tannoy.

Yeah too right but I wouldn't change a thing or perhaps going back to claret and blue.

6d is right. I hated those peanuts but one day I was on my own, she thrust a bag at me and said "sixpence." Very naively I said, "I've only got threepence" and produced a threepenny bit. She snatched it from me, tore the bag in half and dumped them on me. I ended up throwing them away. To me she was tiny with a very gypsylike appearance like the Rumanians you see around.

Great reading this and does take me back, for some reason the 70's evoke memories of night games at Palace more than day ones.

The smell of burgers, BO and horsehit drifting across the Holmesdale whilst watching Doris's screamer fly in against Liverpool. A posse of Hereford defenders watching the ball nestle in the back of the net in a big promotion four pointer..my dad taking us in to the seats of the AW for the only time against Millwall because of the potential trouble only to find some of his own and he ends up knocking some nasty Bermondsey b****** down the stairs to applause...

I want to go back to 1974 and start all over again...

I used to work with Mrs Minchellas son a real diamond of a bloke as it happens and the St bernard dog I think belonged to a guy called Chris Wright.Seem to recall him parading it around the pitch sometimes with a Palace shirt on.

A five year old child could do this! Somebody fetch me a five year old child.

Blimey, that's a name from the past. I rember him well , especially from away games. I once bumped into him in Copenhagen for some reason he arrived at half time. me and my mates were there to support kenny Sansom and see his debut for the u23's. Could write book about trip!!!

Is he still on the go?
