Very true and had Roy remained in position,we may well have been waking up this morning finding ourselves back in the Championship, rather than 10th in the Premier League!!
Unbelievable transformation.

If Roy had stayed and didn't get another point we would still be in the premier league . So no we were never going to find ourselves in the Championship .
Glasner is great , the football is great and we are all on a high but Roy was in charge with the mandate to keep us in the division (which he did with room to spare) not to wet nurse strikers who couldn't defend (lol) or score goals .

Given the right tactics do strikers need to defend? ( Harland) Mateta has proved he can score goals given the right service/support

LOL Im a fun kind of guy Im just being realistic though . Roy was employed for one thing only and I just see it as unfair when people dig him out for not being more entertaining as a manager . That was down to Parish for playing it safe which was probably the right call as we established ourselves in the PL under Roy

Im delighted as anyone that we are now on the path of enlightenment under Glasner

It probably goes without saying that Sorloth would have probably been a success under Glasner too.. not as much as Mateta but he’d have done ok...

Well no they dont need to defend but the best ones do . Not many teams can carry a goal hanger .

How many passes did Mateta ( and for that matter Sorloth ) get slipped in either side of the centre back under Roy?
None.
The difference under Glasner is that we are playing 30 yards higher up the pitch , pressing higher and asking our striker to play within the width of the penalty area.
This enables Olise, Eze and Wharton to thread balls into the penalty area for the striker to finish with one or two touches.
It’s not rocket science.
Hodgson was all about shape , blocking areas in our half and hoping for occasional individual brilliance from our players to create.
Glasner has has a system to defend and attack, to play with the ball and without the ball.
It’s like chalk and cheese to compare him to Hodgson.

Fortunately for us, Mateta's not a goal hanger. On several occasions on Sunday he was winning the ball back on the half-way line and starting new attacks but when we had the ball and going forward he was where a good striker needs to be - in the danger area- Hence his hat=trick.

Elphis is correct. If we got no more points when Hodgson left we would be two points behind Luton with 24 and be relegated. That’s why Roy had to go. Glasner was appointed for the Everton match but sat in the Directors Box with Parish and Bright. Paddy took the team and whether under Glasner’s direction or his own volition, played a back three with two wingbacks. The match was drawn.

If you mean Elpis, then he was wrong for the reason you have stated (24 pts). Furthermore. had Hodgson stayed and not got another point it would have meant both Luton and Burnley would have beaten us, resulting in us finishing 19th on 24 points behind Burnley on 27 and Luton on 28.

I stand corrected though its unreasonable to suggest we wouldn't have got to at least 30 points with Olise ,Eze and the two January buys in the side . RH wasn't useless he was just generally boring with the players he had at his disposal as he tried to eek out a point here and there .
I was never thinking we would be relegated regardless of the manager
