Exactly there is a world of difference in coaching an established squad and having to rebuild one almost from scratch. I have no doubt that Lampard could do that but the chances are that he may not get his targets due to our lack of money. The question then is if he only gets his 2nd or 3rd choice targets can he coach them to the level required.

It's why I favour Dyche (he may not be interested) as he seems to be at home in the lower leagues.

When Lampard got the boot from Chelsea there was a lot of noise about disharmony in the squad which does call into question his man management skills. For a club our size it is vital to have a good team spirit as often that is called upon when our opponents have overwhelmingly better players. One thing you could say about Roy is that rarely did you hear noises about disquiet in the squad. That is a similar trait of Dyche who has spoken about the importance he and his team place on team building and getting the right personalities into the squad.

Ultimately the decision will likely be weighted according to how Parish wants to take the club forward. Dyche, to my mind, would be evolution continuing on from the work Roy has done, whereas a Lampard or a Howe would be a revolution. As painful as it may be to do so, you look at how Brighton have changed from a pragmatic Hughton team to Potterball and you can see it is feasible, but it does take some significant investment. Given 12 players are out of contract this summer maybe we are going to see a revolution? With Dyche being coy and no one else giving much away who bloody knows! Whoever it is will have my support, even if it's John Terry

The questions now, of course, is:

When will we meet our new manager?

It needs to be straight after the Liverpool game for me. Whoever it is needs the max time possible before next season. I really don’t want to be hanging on the result of the championship play offs. That would mean we haven’t even got a target who is guaranteed to take the job. Lampard at least brings a quick and easy transition.

To my mind, Parish sees a need to play a more attacking game. We saw that with FDB and Pardew.

As such, I think he will hire a "risk candidate" to start the season. That is, somebody tasked with making us an attacking team and whose philosophy is attacking.

He will persist with that individual for as long as he feels we retain a good chance of avoiding relegation.

(Personally I would go all out for Dyche).

Regarding transfers, I think the club always planned to "go short" this summer anyway, and Covid only made their decision more emphatic.

I have theories about why we did this, but the bottom line is there will be extraordinary value in the transfer market this summer because so many clubs around the world are all but bankrupt.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Not keen on Lampard. There's nothing in his CV to suggest he can rebuild a Premiership side using the experienced players that will remain with youth and astute loans and signings, all on a budget. And presumably, change the playing style all whilst maintaining Premiership status. A big ask!
Parish already tried the big leap with FdB and the squad wasn't ready for it.
Dyche has the qualities necessary but would he accept the challenge?

Why would he take a sideways step as there is no benefit in it for him

Easy to say but not so easy to do with our limited resources, coupled with a new Manager, this approach will almost certainly result in relegation.

As for SD, he has already expressed a desire to Boss top stars at the highest level his task at Burnley is very similar to what it would be at Palace the only difference is that at Burnley he is well established and likely to get more investment in the team. Therefore unless he gets the vacancy at Spurs I think he is unlikely to be attracted by the CP job which has a very high risk of failure due the numerous changes that will have to take place.

I don't think the likes of Leicester, Everton, Wolves or Southampton would consider Dyche - not even Newcastle. We're a slight step up from Burnley, but it depends on each club's owners' intent - if Dyche genuinely believed there was serious intent to grow our club (new stand etc - Pulis taked about this potential) and that Burnley were more about succeeding within their current limits then he would consider Palace, but if it was just a sideways step why would he take such a risk?

Outside of Dyche , having a complete fall out with the people running Burnley, What would he gain from a switch to Palace?
People say we have a better squad, Not by much if at all. There is nothing to say we have more money , so no more access to the big time than Burnley.. Even in the U18 U23 development stakes Burnley, are at the least our equal. Maybe an extra million a year might do the trick, but otherwise this would be a prime example of moving sideways for Dyche.
Palace, are not a lost cause by some way, but they are a risk for an up and coming manager ,it could so easily go wrong and blight what’s left of a career. Even the Howes, and Lampards, will need some convincing. It is going to take a really good man, let’s hope we find one, or even better have all ready.

I want Lampard. We need to rebuild our squad with younger players and he needs to prove he can cut it in the prem. Could be the perfect fit. Chelsea was a massive task and a massive ask for him. Top 4 expectations, big money players and big egos to match. But Palace will be a different proposition. Mid table safety and some exciting football will be deemed a success.
We wont get a big name proven prem manager. So lets not settle on another bottom feeding, survival specialist, defensive dinosaur.
It will not be without risk and he will need financial backing but we are Palace (super Palace), we have some exciting kids coming through the academy and we need to get the magic back to Selhurst.
The second Frank could be the right Frank.

Interesting article in the Athletic about prospective managers. This is a bit about Cooper
